Question about the event that says a minor race stole all the tech from one of the major races and is willing to give it to you for a price. Perferrabley a planet.

My question is what is this all about. I would go to the minor race to trade with and they have no new tech then the last time I check with them (I check often with the minor races.)

So is this event just a bug. I have seen this on both the DA and the new expansion (the one in beta can't remeber the name off hand Arnor I think.)

It sounds odd that if it is a bug that it was never corrected.

And if it is not a bug then am I doing something wrong?

I would guess that you are so advanced that the techs they stole from someone else, you already have. It is nice when they steal weapons techs from the Drengin that I have not bothered to research yet. Especially when the Drengin are being particularly nasty and won't trade with me.

I have not traded with them enough to know if there is some sort of algorithm that causes them to desire planets more than other techs. I usually get away with trading techs for techs or money for techs.

Interesting point this one, I have had it several times on dread lords, yet have the same problem, it would make sense that all the tech they gain I already have as I am usually the leader in research in my games.

I usually use the minor races as a second income, trading techs for cash, and sometimes helping them if they are attacked by supplying them with advanced ships, and use them to weaken the enemy before attacking the same enemy myself

I miss the GalCiv1 were you could get so much per turn, in trade, maybe it was to easy expliot and unbalancing as you could do like 1000 a turn of them even if they didnt have it....

I suspect this is what's happening. I've had that event several times and found quite a list of techs for sale. But I've never even tried offering a planet to see if the minor will pony up the whole kit & kaboodle. Has anyone done that when the list of techs was well over 10-15?

Too funny, and most likely true, the list of recent posts seemed shorter.

Anyway, I've had this happen when the techs they stole were all ones I did not have, and I wanted them badly but couldn't get them to trade. The event says they are willing to trade for "systems" not just a planet. But even so, I've offered a couple of planets and still didnt get them to agree. I just ignore the event now. It was like trying to get a major to trade you a star base...

I also find the event rather deceptive in that it says something like, "your spies, working closely with the

The event is not very well executed, I understand it was lifted from galciv1 but it never worked correctly in 2. It does acquire the techs of one civilization, but the minor race doesn't start valueing planets more, or anything more for that matter.
So getting the more expensive or military techs from then will be rather expensive.

In GalCiv-1 AIs (at least until that was nerfed) valued planets significanly higher than they do in GC-2. So it seems that the event was just ported to GC-2, without any adjustment to GC-2 values.

I got this event in my last game. The minor would only trade the techs for my home planet, but not the other 12 planets combined!!

Fortunately, there's no penalty for just ignoring the event, and not trading for the techs.
