Minor race takes over some of your planets

Ok.  I just ran into this one.  I had an event take place where a minor race showed up.  They took over two of my worlds.

My problem is that for some bizarre reason my ship yard took a big hit.  I lost all of my current designs for warships forcing me to rebuild them all.

the minor race part is normal but i've never seen that happen in a shipyard

Was there a "disease" event going on? Sometimes one of the disease events results in you temporarily losing access to some ship designs. If you lost all, that could mean the disease event has been going for awhile. Just speculation, but it might explain this. Otherwise, it's a pretty odd event.
