Increase Ship size

I built Huge Ship, with a ton of addons, but even so, everything seem to have been scaled down to fit the normal Huge ship's size.

So, is there a way to manually increase the size of a huge ship to say a starbase?

Maybe a modder will jump in with more info, but I think the only way to make a ship "huge-er" in the stock game, is just to keep piling on the larger parts and scaling them up with the size slider for the parts, starting with the stock Huge hull as the underlying framework. Make sure you haven't left the sliders at small-scale settings for the parts.

Also, I think I remember reading somewhere here that you want to avoid using the bare hulls that are attachment points only, because they don't auto-scale in the combat screen like the default hulls do. That might be another problem you're running into, if you're basing this on how things look in combat.

Yeah, you just brought up another of my pet peeves in the combat viewer. I'd love for ships to scale dramatically between hull types... there isn't much visual difference between a battlecruiser and a frigate, which is a damn shame.

I tried piling up A TON of parts, but the more parts i pile, the smaller the parts get.
It seems theres a magical box where if your ship reaches to, it shrinks your ship so it wont breach that box...

I have been using the "box" hulls, should i use normal hulls instead?

No, I believe that the game will scale the ships down no matter how many parts you add to it. All ships end up the same size.

...Which would be just fine if the damn ships already were barely distinguishable in size.

A starbase is based upon a large hull. (not a huge or something larger)

You can increase the size of any hull by modding the 'Size' attribute in the GC2Types.xml file.
But that will only increase the available space to place components on that particular hull. It won't affect how the components look when you place them.

Hmm...I noticed that the stock huge hulls are only marginally bigger than the large ones, and that the only good way to get a truly enormous ship is to use the hardpoint-only hulls. Maybe that's just for the Terran style (whose huge hulls are not all that inspiring).
