Resolution Problem

I'm trying to run the game in windowed mode, at 800x600 under my 1024x768 desktop resolution, but the only options in game are 1024x768, and "custom resolution". I don't understand the file structure of the game (gold edition) otherwise I'd dig in and edit some .ini's or something, is there anything I can do to unlock the rest?

Nevermind, I found the prefs file hidden away in that obscure "My Games" folder, who's idea was that?

It doesn't really work anyway, since fonts don't fit on buttons anymore and such.

The game has a minimum resolution of 1024x768.
