Screen Flashes during gameplay

Does this happen to anyone else?

It seems that with beta5 my screen will randomly go blank and then revert like nothing happened. The flash lasts about 1.5 seconds and about once every 3-4 minutes. I can't seem to track down why. It seems to be limited to the galaxy map (although I spend much more time there than every other screen) and happens in every game I start. 

I did recently update drivers for my ATI card and add more RAM, but this is the only game I have problems with (so I am guessing its related to this build). I can provide many a savegame if that is helpful

Computer specs: C2D 6400, 5GB RAM, HD2900XT

In an effort to chase it down, I played for over 1.5 hours and not a darn thing happened. Figures - now I don't know what the heck is going on...
