Make sure your not using characters that aren't allowed. Ie. ; [ $, ect.

There is one area where SD could give us (modders and regular game fans) a little more leeway... more diversified Fonts & properly 'devised' Characters recognition.

See, i am developping the X-Worlds mod and in it, the surface buildings are entirely based on true X-Com stuff; ex, the Workshop(s) are replacing the group of factories (from basic to the very last).

Now, what i'd really like to TYPE as an id for these is a personal taste description rather than follow through the already available principles. Say, like my Laboratories (again, straight from X-Com as is) aren't the previous Research centers and/or Academies & so on... but they certainly are using the exact same slot on the listings.

What i'd really want for those also is a real full ttf where symbolics (UTF8, standards and extended ASciis, btw) CAN be read and used by the game itself. To my dismay, when looking at the BankGthd.ttf file i couldn't get these characters in since they simply aren't there to use!
So, a **LABORATORY** tagged with any of these symbols at the end(Greek -Alpha, Beta Kappa, Phi, Omega) will never happen since the default font isn't compatible.
Thus, a restricted set of characters.

Please, SD coders - find a way to expand this limit, somehow to include a real set of recognizable extra-types. Not wingdings or fancy stuff - just the entire or smallest International groups where i can plunge my imagination into. Arial or others gave it all to us, so should text in GC2.

It had almost nothing to do about typing a new name (made of valid characters only) in a provided field within gameplay, agreed.
I was more after an incode task/function and necessary alteration(s) by SD to the program itself to allow much MORE characters to be entered - and this, even in your case (indirectly). Thus, an expanded Font.

he hijacked your thread to make a plee for more legal characters!

Are you sure you didn't accidentally add a space or anything?

Might be there's a glitch currently, I'm unable to access some parts of the
MetaVerse due to:

Server Error in '/' Application.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Compilation Error

Then again, this might be completely unrelated.

Make sure you're entering your serial correctly as well. If you've got your serial in correctly and the name doesn't contain any of the prohibited characters, hit up [email protected].
