Ship designer bugs and custom race

So I noticed in TA beta two things - ship designs with same name  but for differenet culture overwrite each other. Which is no good at all.

Also  if you customize any race it ges stuck this way even when AI plays it (problem being I dont want see my logo and color scheme on another player in same game) .

Neither is a bug.

The first is because all the user ships are stored in the same directory. If you want to use the same names, then you need to have some designation for which race the ship is for. (for example) Frigate DNC001 for Frigate, Drengin Naval Contract 001. Frigate DNP001 for Frigate, Drath Naval Purchase 001.....etc

The second can be fixed on the race select screen by hitting Clear (I think) then Load, then highlight the race in question and Delete. The opponent will then use the default setup.

(although a problem I have with the latter is after I did it once, no matter what race I select it choses the first racial ship type alphabetically and I have to hit back and reset it to the race's normal ship type)

Just to clarify about the custom race issue - you're technically creating a second version of that race, with the same name but different options (picture, etc). If you don't use that race, and you indicate to randomly select races, the computer might use that race instead of the default (from my experience, they seem more likely to use your custom race).

Well maybe they are not "bugs" but the ships design name issue is very annoying .I like to name my designs the same regardless of race I am playing. Now that in TA each race is actually different I plan to play more than one race , before I just used one base race and it wasnt such a big deal, but now imho it is just very annoying.

fixing it should take little time imho.

Heh...Since this situation has been around since DL, I doubt it is high on their priority list.

I just don't see how annoying it could be to come up with a simple code to designate one race from another in ship naming. Hell, number the races 1 through C (I think?) or more if you use a lot of custom races and tack it on the end of the ship name.

hmm...that's odd...it eliminated some text in my post.

Hell, number the races 1 through C (I think?) or more if you use a lot of custom races and tack it on the end of the ship name. ... Within 5 games, you won't even notice it's annoyance.

Should read
