Tiny Map - Torians control the galaxy

I just started a game with the krynn in a tiny universe.
The whole map was green - torian...

Why did they control the whole universe? This happened on the very first turn and it stayed for several rounds.
I quit this game and started a new one - now the torian were not there or did not control the whole universe...
Strange...

Does anybody have an idea why this happened?

Two reasons, Torians have a large influence bonus per population unit and they reproduce faster than rabbits.

Yeah, that faster reproduction is nice.

Odd...I posted a reply to this yesterday, but it seems to have disappeared.

The large influence bonus and the faster reproduction rate won't cause them to control the galaxy on turn 1.

It could have something to do with how influence gets reset when a new session is started. So maybe it wasnt actually calculating their area of influence on turn one. After hitting "turn" it may have reset back to what it should normally be.

There has always been an influence bug on restart. The influence levels are not recalculated until someone does something that changes the influence level and then everyone's influence is recalculated. If you will notice the next time you strart a new game, your empire has NO influence until turn 2.

This is a legacy bug that has been around since DL. It is really a problem for people like me who play in the larger galaxies and persue an economic and influence victory strategy. Games like this can last for weeks because each turn lasts for anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour. This necessitates lots of reloads and with influence screwed up, this makes culture flips take longer and can in some circumstances lead to losing worlds to invalid culture flips.

Scincerely,
