Change Language

Possible?

Hi,

just a little question, since I didn't find anything when searching for "Language" or "Localization": Is it possible to change the language of the game? I've got a german version and would prefer the english language...

You should be able to get the english version by simply uninstalling, then reinstalling the game via SDC.

I assumed that it would be something like that :-) Ok, then I'll go downloading... *sighs* Thanks.

There should also be an 'English' subfolder somewhere in the GameData... Copying the contents over the 'German' folder works, mostly. A complete install using SDC is better, however.

End of quote

The only way to change the language without uninstalling the game would be to change the value of a specific registry key (at least on Windows XP)

It's this kind of thing that shows how awesome Stardock is. Other companies would tell you to buy an English copy and that any attempt to change the language of your copy from German to English is a violation of the EULA.

*hugs Stardock*

And whats with the outher way? I have the German Version from GCII but I purchased DA and TotA online. Is there a way to change the language to german?

if you just have to change same files, where to download?

THX for ansering :)

There is no official German translation for DA or TA since those have not been released in Europe, so switching langauges as you can with DL wouldn't help there. However I-Mod has made a German translation for DA which is available here.

thx for the quick response. I'll try it and hope there will be the same with TA.
By the way, isn't there a gold release in german with GCII + DA? or is it just in english?

No, since GC2 Gold has not been released in Europe, is has not been officially translated as I said. Paradox has recently made a new bargain-bin release but it's still just DL, since that's all they have the license to do.
