Creativy to strong?

I went and added creative to the terrans for my games and by 22 June 2227 (game starts 1 Jan 2227 for referance) I'd had the creative feature hit 4 times!  The last one hit right after I started a researchthat would have taken 24 weeks, but instead I get the research the next week... It just seems way way to common right now, it should have a 1% chance of firing, not whatever it's set to now.

That's a bit of an unusual streak there.

Creativity tends to do next-to-nothing for me.
You're one lucky bastard!

Hmmm, You must have lucky picked as well. I never get a boost more than once or twice a game and it is usually a turn or two

I had a game with the Krynn where this happened, about half of the techs I researched in the game got creativity boosts. First game with TOA and it helped me fight off some unusually aggressive Terrans (they conquered the Drengin early, but maybe it rubbed off on them...). Since then, however, it hasn't appeared nearly as often even when I research or trade the creativity boosting techs.

I don't know if luck interacts with it: +50% luck from bonuses and parties hasn't helped my Arceans in this respect, but practicing with luck/first strike/weapons boost combo on huge fleets of tiny ships at the moment and absolutely astonished by it. Not a single ship lost yet against comparable Korx & Krynn fleets of smalls and mediums. The Arceans' 10% bonus to creativity from one of their techs is handy too, activates just often enough to keep my weapons up to date. I rate these cheap, wonderful bonuses higher than almost any other these days (though I find I always take 1-3 of the holy trinity of econ, morale & pop growth, otherwise I can't keep up with AI).

Yea that'd be War Rooms,

Yea and this is happening to me and giving me a huge boost. When ever I have a long tech I always say I'll just research it because I know I'll get the creativity to finish it

Ssshhh....don't tell anyone! How else am I supposed to get stock exchanges as my 5th tech in a reasonable time without it!

I probably hit on about 6 a game and it makes me very said when it triggers when I have 1 turn left till I aquire the technology

I don't mind this - not if I get the next one for free! Very useful, if a bit cheap.

I still think the cost for it at race creation should be bumped up to 3 points.

The Creativity racial on it's one is strong, but not too strong. However, Creativity is a problem in combination with tech trading.

In all my games I always trade techs with little long-term use against ability boosting techs. The Arceans usually sell me some nice creativity boosting tech (War Rooms if my memory serves me right) for little. And only then the bonus appears to proc really really often.

I could swear I got a 20% creativity tech from one of the races, deep into their their tech tree, but I can't find it now.

I thought it was either the Thalan or Iconian tree, but I scoured them, and then every other race's tree searching for it.

Was it just some fevered dream, or does such a tech exist?

Thalans, Neutral. You are correct; +20%.

Haven't played the Iconians yet...

I think the Arcaeans have something like that as well, war rooms iirc.

I use creativity all the time and usually it works fine , sometimes I do 20+ or even 50-60 turns research and it usually kicks in.
There is a small bug related to it however - if creativity "hit's" on the last turn of research it researches the next technology without asking (sometimes it's nice but usually strange) and only after that you get a message that "due to creativity ...".

Also if you play good civ. you can research +25 creativity (at least for Altarians for sure).

The only time that sucks Lord KiRon is when you just finished Manufacturing Centers and it procs Industrial Sectors. There went your economy if you weren't repaired.

Why? You can always cancel the upgrades, or change some factories to econ buildings. I've never understood the whole "industrial sectors ruined my economy" thing.

You'd have to cancel the upgrades and then turn off auto-upgrade for all the planets wouldn't you? Or is canceling an auto-upgrade for a building an end-all for the governor auto-upgrading it again? I'm fuzzy on that department.

As for going from Advanced Factories to IS. The build time will be high, thus the social production cost will be high for your planets that have factories (probably 100% of them). All this time you'll have a huge drain on your economy.

This whole auto-upgrade business is a little bit messy.

If you play on a large map, manually upgrading can be a PITA.
On the same map, manually deselecting governer upgrades, too.

There could be a pop-up that asks you wether you want to auto-upgrade every structure after you have researched something that gives you new buildings.

Or you have to monitor your research and change your settings as soon as you research something where you do not want an auto-upgrade. But that still would not solve the problems of LordKiron.
