The new graphics of resources

They've made them harder to spot

I have to say, that as much as I like TA (which is a lot), I don't like the updated graphics used to represent galactic resources.

They can be incredibly hard to spot (especially in an immense galaxy) and if you don't use the tactical display often, they are very easy to miss.

In general, I would like to be able to search for resources in some way. Perhaps use the planet/ship list screen and expand it to include resources - that wpuld be really neat (but that was a thing for the wish list, which this post is not really about :) ).

Otherwise, a truly great expansion guys :) Keep up the good work.

Agreed, it would be nice if they stood out a little more or there were a way to search for them.

I'd like it if automated survey ships would seek out unclaimed resources like they do anomalies.

I absolutely agree. The old way to display ressources was better indeed.

Time for an 'option' petition I think

Lol, I thought that was a bug and it prevented them from showing up...

Here's how i manage to put these straight in focus on the mini-map; turn off planets & stars, no territorial colorings either, keeping only maybe ships along with anomalies(grey) if any leftover. Big blackened void actually.
This way the ONLY big white dots (still free to take) shown are resources.
Zoom in & out when necessary.
Can't miss.

Does this work for resources in unexplored territory, with Blind Exploration turned on?

If so, I feel really dumb for not knowing it.

It is. The 'shine' sprite you see now was always there behind the models. It just seems that the models are not showing up now for some reason.

Thank God. The shine I remember, and I would be so disappointed if the models were just removed instead of changed. I quite fond of the resource models actually. They are sharp and crisp and kinda cool. I mean, how is a Morale Resource supposed to look? Keeping it abstract was spot on. Military resource: sharp edges: check!

Not that i know of, it would be like having an indirect cheating feature for these, don't you think? The blackened areas are known space and the bluey/greylike regions still are undisclosed (if toggled off on Init, btw)... but, i guess the Resources should be included in the pool of available items in such a context just like the remaining anomalies (grey over greys, quite tough to compare also!) .

I'd have to test this further.
The trick is still valid for any normal situations though.

I started new game to check and they don't show up with blind exploration enabled. So at least I wasn't missing anything. :)

I'll go back to my old resource finding habits . . . following minor race constructors.
