Custom Tech - require multiple techs?

Can I create a new tech that requires multiple techs? I don't simply mean 1 requisite tech + alignment. For example, let's say I want to have the "Wormhole" tech for the Thalan (since the game engine doesn't enable this, I would make an engine system with +25 to speed). I want it to come at the end of the engine techline after Hyperwarp III, but I also want to require their Technology Adaption III (to reflect their increased ability to implement their own technologies in the current universe). Can I have both prerequisites for my new Wormhole tech?

For that to be a true wormhole tech that is implemented as an engine...you would have to require that there couldn't be any attacks along the way. Otherwise, you just have a super-charged engine that would allow you to get 25 more attacks in.

In my past experience, it works as more of an "Either/Or" method than an "And" method. You can have 2 prereq's, but having either prereq will unlock that tech.

You are incorrect. You must have both prerequisite techs to unlock the third tech, and in each of the prerequisite techs, it specifies that it unlocks the third tech. It does not, however, inform you of the other prerequisite tech you need to unlock the third tech.
