Influence take over

If you lose your home planet to an influence take over then there should be more repercussions than just losing that planet.

such as losing all the other planets in the system or sector.

If you just lost your home planet, then most likely you will loose that entire sector or already have. A 16bil pop planet flipping will take a nice chunk of IP and also once flipped will create one heck of a tide of influence in your opponent's favor.

The average player will never win a game where that happens.

The only player that could win would be one of the super-players just to prove it can be done

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has (or thinks they could have) recovered from losing their homeworld to an influence flip.

On the other hand if a home world was taken by force the empire(ai) may fight to the death to get it back.

Well, if you are a warmonger you could just invade it to get it back or you could use a spore ship.

Presumably by the time the opposition is in a position to influence flip your home planet you are likely to be in a pretty bad state already, such that additional penalties are hardly necessary...

That is SO not true. I do it all the time....My favorite mode of winning is to turn off influence victory and try to win a conquest victory by influence flipping.

So you loose YOUR home world all the time and then still pull off a conquest/influence victory? The OP was about an increased penalty for loosing a home world, then the reply on that was that only a super player would loose their home world on purpose then show it could be come back from.
