Get a copy of SimCity 4 and use its music. I don't remember if it was mp3 or what. It's easy to convert to mp3. go to zdnet and search the downloads section for "convert mp3" I use dbSomething or another. i am not at home right now. Anyhow, keep your conversions to 160 bit or below so they will work in GalCiv.

SimCity 4 is great. Also the music from Stronghold and Stronghod Crusdaer. I grabbed it from sordandpistal.com

Instrimental jazz like Miles Davis. And For the upbeat, Stevie Ray Vaughn Live at Austin City Limits.

Kraftwerk is good stuff! Have "We Are the Robots" pounding away as you fight the Yor, it really adds to the game atmosphere...

Anything classical, my personal prefenced are Mozart and Strauss waltzes - it gives the game that '2001 - A Space Odessy' feel and it's easy to find legit. free classical MP3s on the web.

Star Trek music....especially Klingon music and "Battle in the Mutara Nebula" from ST2.

Also, my opening song is always "Faith of the Heart" by Russell Watson.

I'll second "The Planets". If you want to sub in another products in-game music - mechwarrior 2 (and expansions) had a fantastic soundtrack.
