G.R.O.S.S. communication thread.

G.R.O.S.S. communication thread.

Cringe in fear do gooders. The G.R.O.S.S. (Get Rid Of Slimy alienS) empire is now formed. In less than an hour we have jumped 95 other Pacifist Doo Gooder victim empires and lept into 40th out of 135 ranked.

We are an evil empire bent on controlling everything and showing all the other empires out there who's boss. US. Are you listening Euro-"Oh lets let everyone be a senator and give em a vote doo gooder democracy alliance?" We come for you.

For a limited time, (untill I decide otherwise) 5 Pure Evil games, (or just impressing me with your game evilness) submitted will get you a Senatorship. Later, being the evil empire pyramid scheme we are, it will take 10. Of course, being the evil empire we are, that gives you no benefits, no pay, but all the alien carnage you crave most.

Now we do realize that sometimes, you just have to fake being good. You sometimes just have to infiltrate that pacifist party. We understand. But we aren't a kinder gentler empire and don't let their pacifism go to your head. And just sometimes, you gotta let the Aliens live (where else would you find slaves for the heavy metal lava mines?)

In the future, we shall update each other in the empire via this thread, brag of our conquests, drink blood wine, and generally just poke fun (creatively and humorously) at those players whom we find to be too goody goodyish.

Our mottos.

G.R.O.S.S. Where being good is merely a temporary strategy.

Just win baby.

Here's your ration of skin you do gooder wimp Drengin slime. Now get back to work

EBZeroMatrix you have been made a senator.

I repeat. Cringe in fear, we come for you.

Christopher LMAO it is so hilarious. Go to Berlin, or London, stand in the middle of some public square, or better yet, go to a pub, and yell "You British/Germans owe your history to French cultural and economic ties." and see what kind of reception you get.:) LOL

Managing your fleets takes time?

What fleets? and why?

I build colony ships and constructors a lot but they are just..wait for build...send them somewhere..hit "yes" or something when they get there.

Survey ships I put into auto survey mode.

Warships I leave in planetary orbit.

If I *have* to fight a major war its generally just a matter of assembling a fleet of sufficient size, set up a train of (escorted) transports to follow it around and basically pick off the bad guys planet by planet....

But I admit - if you have to fight a lot of wars it slows things down a lot.

Same here. I do use the autopilot feature a bunch though. And I don't bother with much of any fleet behind the lines. Just a few amm's to pick off stray ships.

Greg. I would agree witht that statement at a broad sort of level. However, 2 world wars, the cold war, and seeing the debate on the part of some countries on whether to join would convince the neutral observer, they don't have a common polis. Perhaps with the eu, some day. But not this day.

Why do you confuse interconnected polis with identical
polis?

He didnt say they were all the same, he said they were
all connected to each other.
But it is true for just about any country. Most countries where colonised to greater or lesser extent by European countries or (more recently) have been significantly cultural influenced by the US (which in turn owes something to a largely European root).

The European Union exists because of common geography not common culture.

That's the thing. For a quick game, you absolutely must stay out of a war.

Actually he said and I quote

"I cannot help but answering that Europe is a cultural value."

That does not imply interconnected. That implies one.

"There is no one European State that does not owe much of its history, for the better or for the worse, to a whole network of European social, cultural and economic ties.'"

Is the rest of that quote
Also Pontius, given English isn't his first language I dont think you can use that first quote against his argument...

Bah, let the Euros bicker. If it wasn't noble families trying to steal each other's lands (or whole kingdoms), it was this blasted Protestant vs. Catholic vs. Orthodox thing. They always had something to fight about. Can't you people see I am trying to install the Super Space Distortion Cannon on the survey ship? All this noise about tea time in Brussels is throwing my calibrations off! :D

Just kidding there. Had to get it out of my system.

That part is true. But he's using it to support his premise that I quoted above. It does not.

Why certainly Scottie. Oh wait. That's a different game. You got the PU38 explosive space modulator in yet?

Greg: Good point. Perhaps there is somewhat of a translation issue.

I think you mistake me for Chris; prior to entering this forum I had never heard of (the rather improbably named) Misty Hymen.

In fact the statement could be made about ANY country - almost all of them "for better or worse" owe some part of their present-day culture to one or other of the European countries, either directly or via proxy (mostly US).

That doesnt make them the same (any more than the culture of, say, East Coast US is the same as, say, southern US).
All countries owe their existance to the U.S. hegmony. Similiarly, all other empires will be crushed under the G.R.O.S.S. steamroller. :) (This statement is for humor and frag-baiting. I think only our polis look forward to a day when the whole world is eating McDonalds and voting for the next U.S. president.)

Anyway i've been out of the hanger this weekend too, but before i left i started a very interesting game (at crippling I believe) where I gobbled up about 40% of the galaxy in the first colonizer rush, then somehow fended off all 4 civs who were determined to wipe me out. I barely made it to Dreadnaught (meanwhile my so-called navy was being destroyed piecemail by everyone else), churned out a few dreads, when the bad guys showed up in their dreads. I realized if i continued I was bruising for a cruising so I gave the biggest empire a planet to buy peace, then went on a spree where i grabbed two military, one economic, and one moral resource and pumped them up to the max, meanwhile sprinting ahead in research. By the time I was done my fleet of 10 or so dreads went from being below everyone militarily to more than 3x the military might of the next best civ (Yor). Needless to say, when I finally came for the evil alien bastards (Yor) I didn't lose a ship against their Avatars. It was pathetic.

Now I just have to mop up and obliterate the good guys. Unfortunately they are allied (Torian/Alterian) and I have 1200 bc trade with them. Fortunately, I convinced the Yor that I would spare them in exchange for 1200 bc for the next 200 months :) What a coincidence. I can now obliterate the good guys w/o falling massively into debt. This game was the most challenging I have played, I'll play on this level or macho for now on.

An update from my game, which I'm gonna disappear for awhile to play.

Unfortunately, I was forced to go goody goody in this one. The council put a 1 trade route limit on evil empires. Uggh. I had to pass up some real planetary goodies.

I've just discovered Battleships (I am the first to do so much to the alien's dismay. I have secured 5 influence resources, 2 science resources, 6 military resources, 2 economy resources, and 3 morale resources. I missed out only on one econ resource that I could have had. No bother though. I have footholds in two Arcean Clusters (obtained during the initial colony grab) and the one and only Yor Cluster (also obtained during the initial colony grab) . They are starting to form movements to convert right now. So I'll get that Yor econ one soon when their last planet revolts. I have 84 colonies and culterally control about 60% of the map. I have managed to get every single trade good as well as every wonder. The pop and morale ones I give to the aliens (more pop to convert and less chance of I-league flipping) Of course when I say give I really mean for alot of tech, cashola, and other things. I used two of the trade goods to put em all at war with each other. None of em seem too interested that I'm taking over 2/3 of the Galaxy in the meantime. I give em all a defender or two (which I got using trade goods) here and there and that keeps em happy. I'm busy building that military rating so none dare war with me.

This one Belongs to G.R.O.S.S.!!!! Only a matter of time. I'm on painful difficulty, which doesn't seem all that painful at the moment.

Greg: That was put in there for Chris. He reads this thread alot.. :) Plus, I wanted to play with the new editing toy.

Interesting..assuming I can keep my eyes open when I et home tonight I will start a game on much harder difficulty than I have been playing, will see how I go - why do you prefer clusters over evenly spread?

Then that could be my problem... I always try to gobble up as many planets as possible mid game (when my navy has sufficient strength and I've built enough CTs). My initial game does go by pretty fast... but I begin to take apart my enemies (and friends) piecemeal.
Of course, I do this to try to milk the score. I could easily sit back and get an alliance win or a tech win, but I was under the impression a military win scored higher.

Individual game scores got changed dramatically. But
overall scores have not been updated yet.

I recalced the current top 10 to this(im bored at
school between classes)

RayChua: 6980.557
Staffa: 11567.57
Cataleptic: 5873.767
Ralph Crosswhite: 4362.266
jtomicic: 6030.235
Sergey Pakhomav: 8923.09
irritable_rabbit: 4538.565
Steve Sitkiewitz: 3654.841
Fifth: 4921.5
Corpnicus: 4023.432

Obviously they went down alot, specially the pre
1.035 games.

Anyway, I suspect quite a few people will fall off the
top 10 and quite a few new people will join it.

Though i suspect I will remain in the top 10 :)
As they have patched today I will play with the new patch; might just try "challenging" to see how it goes :)
I will of course update my version as soon as I get
home. Though I wonder if I should submit any game
until after they update everyones overall score.
