Captain Jack Sparrow Captain Jack Sparrow

G.R.O.S.S. communication thread.

G.R.O.S.S. communication thread.

Cringe in fear do gooders. The G.R.O.S.S. (Get Rid Of Slimy alienS) empire is now formed. In less than an hour we have jumped 95 other Pacifist Doo Gooder victim empires and lept into 40th out of 135 ranked.

We are an evil empire bent on controlling everything and showing all the other empires out there who's boss. US. Are you listening Euro-"Oh lets let everyone be a senator and give em a vote doo gooder democracy alliance?" We come for you.

For a limited time, (untill I decide otherwise) 5 Pure Evil games, (or just impressing me with your game evilness) submitted will get you a Senatorship. Later, being the evil empire pyramid scheme we are, it will take 10. Of course, being the evil empire we are, that gives you no benefits, no pay, but all the alien carnage you crave most.

Now we do realize that sometimes, you just have to fake being good. You sometimes just have to infiltrate that pacifist party. We understand. But we aren't a kinder gentler empire and don't let their pacifism go to your head. And just sometimes, you gotta let the Aliens live (where else would you find slaves for the heavy metal lava mines?)

In the future, we shall update each other in the empire via this thread, brag of our conquests, drink blood wine, and generally just poke fun (creatively and humorously) at those players whom we find to be too goody goodyish.

Our mottos.

G.R.O.S.S. Where being good is merely a temporary strategy.

Just win baby.

Here's your ration of skin you do gooder wimp Drengin slime. Now get back to work

EBZeroMatrix you have been made a senator.

I repeat. Cringe in fear, we come for you.

Post final thought: I am also of the position that if G.R.O.S.S. changes it's empire name I will reluctantly withdraw my membership. Simply having the name has drawn my wife into the game, and now I can count on her to expertly hit the space bar when tens of billions of lives are at stake.

I too am fond of that name. It was the main sticking point in our merger. In the end, we didn't merge because of it. I for one don't want to have a name that isn't "cool" Keep up the good work.

We have fallen off the top 10. I will hustle up and try to get my game in which should put us back in the top 10 before the map resets. No guarantees though. You can reach me at aim BonkersBruin

Svalin, I'll Consider your request for Senatorship tomorrow. Tonight I'm concentrating to get through this game If I can. It's going to be a win. Just got to finish it.

It's never happened to me before, but today I have been *shamed* by gross people. After my current large game, and possibly the next 2 or 3 gigantic games, I will reluctantly call an [*name deleted] Empire committee meeting to discuss the possibility of updating to the latest versions of the game.

There, I hope you're happy. Long live G.R.O.S.S. (:(

Quote: Post #149 "Pontius: Actually the ANCACS and Canadians would be worthy to join us. Perhaps they will do so later. In the meantime, as things stand, there are two viable strategies to grow in the Metaverse:

1) Churning out tech wins on Gigantic Maps.
2) Recruitment and Mergers."

Coffeedragon, don't hold your breath. Its hard to see the Canadians worthy of us.
Another strategy is to sow the seeds of doubt and Nationalism. It works every time with "Europeans". Scratch the surface and they are ALL insecure. I'm trying hard on their post, but sheesh are they slow on the uptake. ;)

Could you see us and the Canadians together? "HIGH EVERYONE, WHO WANTS TO JOIN THE NAFTA EMPIRE!!!" Uh right.

Shamed by the shameless.
Your life is now complete.

This is just a somewhat pointless status report to let the gang know what I am up to. Well, yours truly, one of GROSS's newest members, is going to try something completely different. I have practically been Mr. Culture so far in my meager exploits, so it is time to go for a different win. So, I will stick with only a diplo cheeseburger and a Techno Pop and forego the culture fries for once. This time, I be talking a military or a tech win. Just don't hold yer collective breaths yet. It usually takes me 3 or 4 days to finish a huge map. Good hunting, folks.

Ok G.R.O.S.S. ers. we've fallen to #11, but that is to be expected once in awhile. On the plus side, we added Gerakken today.

Score wise we're actually in better position than when we were ranked a bit higher. We are closer to alot of empires. And even though we fell a spot due to mergers and such, we've gained a couple thousand points on the top spot and are now in striking distance of FrogBoy's Frolikers with a Gigantic game coming in tomorrow from me.

Always remember. There are two kinds of people in this Metaverse. You are either G.R.O.S.S. or G.R.O.S.S. Roadkill.

Pontius, final comment from me before I bow out for the week. And before I say this, I recognise that I know nothing of your internal politics at G.R.O.S.S., and I wouldn't want to stir things up there, but you can hardly pontificate about every low score is a winner and then idly comment that you've collectively become roadkill. :notsure:

Responding to a page back - you guys should decidedly make svalin a senator.

Pontius - If you don't think 1.31 is puffier than 1.35, compare svalin's last two games. Heartbreaking.

"with a Gigantic game coming in tomorrow from me."

LOL I was starting to think you didnt play at all!!

And no need to despair just because you have fallen behind the Canadians.

You are still a full TWO places ahead of The Great Washu Empire and its leader, irritable_rabit.

Well, my Gigantic game has hit a snag... I goofed when clicking in a deal with the Torians. I couldn't believe how much they valued my Harmony Crystals, a couple techs, and a pair of Starfighters... I should have known better when they were willing to give me Battleship and Space Militarization without a quibble.

One deal signing later, I discover I've given away a 10 Billion population yellow star in Sol's sector!

Next turn, they deman I hand over Sol! Two turns later, they go to war with me over the already-existing cultural&production starbase in Sol sector! Bastards... I was hoping to culture-flip them back into the Empire. Guess I'll have to give my soldiers some target practice....

(At least I have battleships now. Granted, the Drengin and the I-League have Dreadnoughts, but Battleships are a big step up from BattleAxes and Corvettes!)

ACK!

I hate it when stuff like that happens - like absent mindedly hitting yes to some pop up and finding out you have declared war...

Actually 1.02 is the puffiest of them all. And gives the most points for the Goody Goody strategy. Pffft. More evidence of the Dev Goody Goody bias.

It matters not though. Once they get the algorithm down they will normalize them all. So it's going to be a wash in the end. I always wait for the newest one a week or two simply to allow bugs to be worked out.

Thelon: Oh man. They demanded my starbase that was culturally assimilating them. Naturally I said no. Giving it away would have flipped 5 sectors and 12 planets. So now I'm at war. Of course I expected as much. Even though they were the stronger, My dreadnoughts were in position and quickly pulverized their economy, morale, and influence starbases as well as the constuctors that could have replaced them. LMAO they are in an economic tailspin now. Debt up to their eyeballs, unable to maintain their ships, yet still wanting war. HEHE. Which is as it should be. More Carnage!!!!!

Yea GROSS! It's too bad the game considers you 'good' when you backstab all your 'allies' and subjugate the lesser races. Of course these 'allies' are just waiting to backstab you, so really you are just beating them to the punch. Long live evilness!

One must have balance. This is not walking a grey line between black and white, but having the wisdom and experience to cross into black or white as the circumstances dictate. Extreme aliens sometimes call for extreme measures, especially when my new line of sea salted snacks is not selling well in Arcean space. "Commodore Perry, I need you to open that spaceport. How about giving them a 24 star blaster salute? And make sure those 8 billion trade representatives are ready to conclude negotiations."

Who knew the salt in your "saltless Torian Snack crackers" would melt em? Oh well.

My game goes well. HEHE. I sacrificed a few outlying planets. Consistant with their strategy, the Torians attacked where I was weakest. Of course it was about 30 sectors away from their home cluster. I've lost 4 planets. Meanwhile, my armada is about to enter their home system and smash their capital to ruins. A Glorius Day is about to dawn.

That's not what I said. I said, every G.R.O.S.S. score contributes to the empire.
There is a difference between individual score and empire score in that the square root rule applies to individuals. Hence, Low scores on the part of an idividual in our empire do not hurt us. They help us (by the amount of their score)

You are either G.R.O.S.S. or G.R.O.S.S. roadkill refers to the fact that you are either in our empire, about to be run over by it, or already run over by it.

Those in the empire are G.R.O.S.S. Those not in it are the G.R.O.S.S. roadkill.

Two seperate and distinct categories.

"Finally... if I'm going to keep playing these huge games to add to our great Empire's score, shouldn't I be a senator?"

Congratulations to your latest win, Legate Svalin. And, yes, your input definitely warrants your promotion as a legitimate consideration.

On the other hand, unlike the European Alliance, we do not contemplate inflating the number of our Senators too much.

All duly considered, my vote goes to promoting you after your next win. :)

Welcome aboard, Gerakken! A wise decision.

A note on my own game: Surprisingly, it goes much better than expected. Should I win this one, it will not make for a large score, but certainly for an interesting AAR.

Hmmm, nice to know that no one seems to consult me as well on decisions. That will warrant me defecting, I can guarantee that (first and last warning).

Have a good day.
