Is there a keyboard trick for loading colony ships?

Is there some keyboard shortcut that can be used in loading a colony ship? Once a planet gets above a certain pop level, it is verrrrrrrrrrry tough trying to load a small amount of colonists!!! I want only 200 million, but the slider only goes to 700 or higher!

Personal UI grip: sliders that don't let you type in the value for precise control. Personal observation: many, many dev's don't understand why this should be a gripe ;)

I hope that they will eventually cleaning up the UI issues by completely eliminating the need to use sliders. I like the option of sliders, but I had having to use them.

I would like it very much as well if I could just type in a precise value for my colony / transport ship loads.

Typing is always better than sliding. If I could type in values for military/social/techno spending it would be like adding several hours to my lifespan.

I agree with you Code Monkey for what it is worth. That is the only part of the UI I do not like. :)

One of my biggest annoyances is loading ships.

Colony ships do it too, but usually transports are even more annoying... why would my planet ASSUME that I only want 1 billion on a Combat transport (I know, happens more when planets have less people... but 9 million is plenty). So I have to dock the ship into orbit, which of course makes the view switch to next ship..... grr

I've added the request for entry fields to go with the sliders to my suggestions list.

I do need to figure out why the sliders are so flaky. That's been on my bug list for awhile.

I feel like Miguel, transports and combat transports should default to a full load, I never would ship them with less except under very unusal circumstances.

As noted earlier in this thread, the slider issue with colony ships is normally not a problem, except later in the game when you try to launch one from a high-population planet. Then you either have to launch with so many people that you'll have a morale problem when you settle or you have to click on the button 200 times to get 200 million colonists.

Slitherin, do you realise that many of us are playing this on our laptops with no mouse and, hence, no mousewheel?

The mouse wheel works wonderfully when trading, as well as early in the game when loading colony ships... but, once you have 4-7 billion people on a planet, and you only want 100-200 million on a colony ship, you have to scroll and scroll and scroll and scroll... (reapeat ad.infin) until you get it. At higher numbers, manually sliding the bar goes from 0 to 700M instantly.

Well put, CM & Morpork! I too lack a mousewheel, and clicking 200x to get the number of colonists I want is extremely annoying.

Would be very nice if I could just enter the number from my keyboard!

would be nice to see them set up say CTRL&(0-9) with common functions depending what slider you're hovering over.

For Colony Ships have each represent 100 million people (x1-10).

For percentage sliders have the effect pop it to that 10%.
