Does the civilization capital do anything?

That is my first question. Does it have any benefit in the game or is it just a figure head.

And number 2, can it be moved? I know I have seen the A.I. have a capital on a newly colonized world and there was no way somebody took their old one over. But I cannot find a way to move the human capital.

If your homeworld is lost, there's a chance that systems will rebel, possibly to the point that your civilization will be divided into three seperate civs. Same goes for AI homeworlds.

Sure odd that the AI's moves around so much, still in 1.03 too.

I don't find it odd because forward building your capitol gives you a nice influence wall right where your empire is most vulnerable. I'd do it too but it's too much micromanagement for my taste.

They don't "forward" build it. LOL. Infact I gave the torians a backwater hickplanet once and their capital promptly moved to over two sectors distance from ANYONE else.

That ain't forward, boy, that hindward!

I hate moving my capital, but it's for purely "roleplaying" reasons. I'm sure I'm not the only one who does this... at least I hope so. LOL

Well, to that, I don't know. I don't really pay attention to things that have little effect on *my* strategy. Maybe instead of my idea of forward building, they try to keep it isolated - if that bit about getting your capitol sacked results in huge morale drop, this would make sense.

I am confused, I know the AIs move their capitals around but is it possible for the human player to move his capital?? I have captured AIs capitals couple of times by now but I have yet to see them divide in seperate civs. Have anyone actually seen this one?

I've seen the Drengin divide into 2 seperate civs. I believe this was a result of low morale and not them losing their capital though.

I read on another thread that you can move it. Delete the capital project from SOL, and then it should show up on the build list. Never tried it myself though.

Yeah- one of my first games ever saw the creation of the Terran CONfederation.

I think I was the blue side then... but their influence color was orange, not gray as it should have been.

The promptly wooped my ass tho... damn southerners!!
