Ok guys, to answer your questions:

Yes, Novocastrian stands for newcastle upon tyne. I'm half french half italian but live in the UK and also a big fan of NUFC, so I have to balance my passion for europe with my passion for the team. So here is the deal: I'll change the empire's name to European Alliance (or something else, we'll need a vote) once more people join.

Forget about the UN: our mission is precisely to create a bipolar system, s the rule of international lore obviously is not being respected.

THE EUROPEAN ALLIANCE HAS NOW BEEN CREATED (with a new flag and all). European brothers, you are all free to join. Please see if you can get the Belgian and Portuguese Empires to unite with us. By the way, the motto Nemo me impune lacessit stands for 'noone who harms me goes unpunished', and was the motto of the kings of scotland. If you come up with something else, I'll be happy to change it

By the way, things are really looking bright. Thanks to our friend from Finland (I've made him a senator, too good a score), and to two new members we are now in the first page of the metaverse, and climbing.

Keep on joining and soon the whole GalCiv community will witness what a bunch of united europeans can do :)

Well, I'm really happy to see some Swiss people joining. Hey Freya, let me tell you something - I am pure evil and all, and by the looks of it, we should all be a little more evil :) I mean, you can't stand up to tough competition if you are not a bit evil. As for the senator thing: my idea is very simple. If your score is better than mine (which is not hard, considering that I'm really struggling to find some time to play), you become a senator. What this basically means is that your say is just as important as mine - I'm just an emperor because the silly game needs one. Originally, I had envisaged an EU style rotating presidency...what is great about what we are doing is that I'm not afraid of having 20, 30 senators. After all, the EU is made up by 15 (soon 20) legally equal and sovereign parts, and, while some issues such as foreign policy, in my view, could be improved dramatically, some things actually do work. But I guess that's enough for politics right now ;)

What do you guys think about the switch of name to Europa Universalis? Let's have a vote.

PS: As for votes, there are two possibilities. We either assume that each player is equal, or agree that a player's say should increase with its importance. Therefore we could envisage something like a correlation between scores and votes. Personally, I like Europa Universalis, BUT:

1- If we keep on changing names people might not take us too seriously

2- The term Alliance perfectly corresponds to my vision of a union made up by equal partners. Universalis seems to refer more to the absolute universality and superiority of european culture... :d

PS- Perhaps, at this point, all players, regardless of their scores, should become senators. After all, Luxembourg should matter. Awaiting inputs

BTW: Galciv is impossible to get in Czech republic except direct download or overseas shipment, maybe i am the onlyone who legally have this game here :notsure:

Senator Thrakath has moved us to the 13th position. If we carry on like this very soon we'll have our own little corner in the intergalactic map. Sincere welcome to our new Czech member - I'm aware of problems related to distribution in Europe, but if there is anything we can do to help European players in this respect, well, suggestions are welcome.

By the looks of it, if we manage to get the portuguese, the belgian and the (french) Pomarje in, we would be there right at the top of it all. Cool

About the name, I think "European Alliance" it's a good name so I don't see any reasons for change it.

European Alliance is better for me (European Alliance Empire sounds better than Europa Universalis Empire)

Welcome Femap. We were missing germans around here.

HEY people guess what happened? Yesterday I finished a massive game (yes, I missed both Champion League quarter finals for this) - Alliance victory on the biggest possible map at suicidal level. I had something like 45 colonies and over 120 billion people...a score easily over 1000, which could have taken us in the first 10...BUT:

I DON'T MANAGE TO REGISTER THE SCORES TO THE METAVERSE!!!
