I have had a CTD 4 times (i have re-done the CTD 4 times in a row)....What I do is: I take my Hero survey ship to a Torian SB, they are at war with me. I double click on the SB to see what bonuses they have, and it drops me to desktop...here is the smart exception report....

ok, this is kinda strange...i took out the only mod i think i have that adds a starbase module, loaded up the above game again, double clicked on my starbase...CTD. So i restarted a game, built a Constructor, built a starbase, doubleclicked on it, it shows the modules (no CTD). So i put the mod back into the game data folder, restart a new game again...build a constructor, build a starbase, doubleclick, game continues to work fine.

Could there just be something wrong with that particular game for some reason causing the CTD's? Because now i cannot re-crash in a new game....

strange...

Having a problem guys, and i am really getting angry. The game won't allow me acces to stardock central, it keeps rejecting my registration number ( my cd-key?) getting heated hear. they had a good thing going and now we gotta deal with another website for upgrades? That sucks

I have this problem about once in ten connections, when updating to check for a patch - sometimes it'll tell me my Drengin.net password is wrong (well, yeah, I don't have drengin yet).

Anyway, what usually works for me is to exit and restart SDC.

Thanks, Thats ok, i have already given up. That whole stardock central set up is a Flop. Tried everything i could think of. With both of my e-mail addresses, i know my serial number ( cd-key?) works cause it worked at first, and on 1.02, but star dock refuses it. I will just play without the new expansion. If their heads swell up anymore they are gonna start charging for each expansion.....

If there is an error connecting/submitting the the metaverse then the game should display an error message.

My first game was lost in the ether. I had read about people having issue submitting scores, so I had saved it right before the end. But when I went back to win (cultural victory) again and try to submit again I didn't win the next turn and then someone declared war on me. I grew tired of playing a game that I'd already won. It would have been nice to know what went wrong so that I can fix it before trying to submit my next game.

About the CTD(?) i was getting when finishing a game:

Okay, i checked out the game at home last night (well, technically at 1 this morning, but who's counting?)

According to both Stardock and the number at the top of the menu screen it's just version 1.02 =P I don't remember exactly when i upgraded, but i did so through Stardock i believe. Is the 1.02 accurate, or do i need to check somewhere else for the more exact number?

I loaded up the game, and hit turn, got a message saying Beyond Human or Final Frontier or whatever was finished, and the humans were getting ready for ascension. Hit turn again, got the White Star movie, then went to the score screen. Looked through a few of the pages, and then hit the done button. Flicker, and then back to the desktop, with no question about making a submision to the Metaverse or anything.

The debug.err doesn't look very helpfull, the last six lines are:
Debug Message: Total Ships: 462 & 2 are dead
Debug Message: AIAltarian: Set Colony Social
Debug Message: Preparing to change display settings.
Debug Message: RGB in format 5:6:5, Masks reported as f800:7e0:1f
Debug Message: Preparing to change display settings.
Debug Message: RGB in format 5:6:5, Masks reported as f800:7e0:1f

I can send you the rest if you think it would be usefull.

Is this likely a bug that needs to be fixed in a later version (ie i'm out of luck :sniff!: ) or is there something i can do to fix the problem locally so i can make the submission before i install the latest patch?

Thanks!

Wrong Infromation of turn completion for Science Projects. If at the start of a turn the turn completion for a science project is O and the percentage of science is a lot more then needed, (like maybe twice ~ 60-80%) then the turn completion will always show next turn unless set to zero (or something very low like 4-5%) I must quit the game and then reload to see the correct setting. Then the correct setting can range from 15-40%

Sometimes, the sort for Social and Military Projects turns to complete stops working correctly. Again, I must quite the game and then reload and it starts working correctly.

I think you have some sort of leak. If I periodically quite the game and reload, the game appears to work better.

I am running a 2.6MHZ with 512 RAM and 200GB hard drive on Windows XP.

I have encountered a flaw with the AI for the sector sweep.
Usually a ship performing a sector sweep will automatically dodge around obstacles along the sector borders to perform the sweep.

In my latest game, I had a scout performing a sector sweep in a sector where the lower left corner of the sector contained an unclaimed resource. The
scout refused to go around the resource. Instead, every turn a pop-up would appear telling me that only constructors can move onto a resource. I finally
sent the scout away in disgrace since he was useless to me.

Last night I also got a crash to desktop after winning when I tried to submit my score to the metaverse. I have a dial-up connection for Internet and Ethernet for LAN, so there was no current Internet connection, even though GalCiv might have noticed my LAN connection.

If you end the game name with a space when saving it, the saved game is corrupt (files are missing in the folder).

Could this please be fixed? I lost several nice games before I figured out what it was (I'm playing on a Tablet PC, and it *always* inserts a space at the end unless you go and delete it).

Sorry if it has been reported already - this thread is too long for me to read through. But since the bug is still there in 1.03, it might as well not be :)

Andrei: that is a new one. Should just be a matter of stripping useless whitespace.

And I've finally caught up on this thread! Yay!

As of the latest version (4/25), I have a bug in my economy. My treasury will change to yellow numbers (indicating a loss inc), but then I will go to my economic tab on the domestic policy screen and see that I am set to turn a profit. The treasury numbers will go back to orange when I do this. But when I hit next turn, I do indeed lose money somehow, and the treasury numbers are back to yellow.

This may have been mentioned, but the bug with the Minor Logos being different from galaxy view and negotion window. It's annoying to have a logo that represents one minor race on the galaxy be representative of another race in the trade/negotiation window. Sometimes I forget who I'm talking to !

Using v1.03.051. Here is a bug that leaves a colony ship in limbo. I had a star system that had another planet that needed to be colonized, so I made a colony ship to colonize it. When it was made, it was outside the star system, so I first clicked on the star system, but before I clicked on the planet, I decided to save the game first. When I came back, the star system was circled, as in a destination type circle, but I could do nothing with the ship, it was stuck in limbo. Had to go back to a previous save.

Followup on Unit Selection/Movement bug: It now appears that my previous problem is a hyperthread bug. As reported before I would select a unit for movement and when I clicked on a destination another unit not selected would move to the destination instead of the one I selected. When I disabled hyperthread (forward loading option)the problem seemed to disappear. Also I found several stability issues which I found corrected or significantly improved by 1) collecting constructors into convoys, and 2) changing the autosave to 5 moves or less. These stability issues involved having the game slow down to a crawl or crash to the desktop. For reference I am running the game with a 2.6GHZ P4, 1GB RAM(200MHZ DDR), 80 GB HD, and intel motherboard with hyperthreading and 500MHZ frontside bus. Video is set to 1024x768x32 with 4x AGP Nividia Geforce4 128MB DDR 350MHZ core. OS is WIN XP PRO with all updates.

Since I have installed 1.03 version, whenever there is to be an UP meeting, game crashes (throws me out to Windows). I tried reloading, deleting MODs, but nothing helped. I can't play at all :sniff!: I'm using W98SE/AMD Athlon XP2000+/NVIDIA GeForce4 MX440

Ok, I think I ran down a bug but don't know how to squash it. I bought the download version of the game and installed it. It saves games to a different file with the auto save than the newer version 1.03.054. So when the auto save is acted it crashes the game. I uninstalled the game through stardock and reinstalled through stardock and that is when I noticed that it was saving to a different file, called 'Drengin net' I think.

Insidious Bug Report: Anomolies that are supposed to be raising Morale are instead raising Defence. I'm sure someone has reported this one already but I think it bears repeating.
Here's what appears to be a bug. After a vote to prevent picking up anomalies in sectors conrolled by other races, I've found that if I land on an anomaly in another race's sector, it will tell me that I'm unable to pick it up, and then it'll proceed to give it to me anyway. I mean, that's gracious and all, but I don't think it's intended.

I installed 1.03.? last night, and started a new game. After awhile I saved the game and then tried to quit. GalCiv went away and left me with a black desktop. The taskbar at the bottom was there, but everything but its edges was also blacked out. The mouse moved, but my computer was otherwise unresponsive, I had to cold boot it. The same thing happens now whenever I try to exit after having loaded that game. It also happens when I try to Alt-Tab to desktop. It does not happen if I simply start GalCiv and then quit, or load up an older saved game and quit.

CTD every time the UP meets. SmartException reports an integer divide by zero error. This seems to be the same problem reported at #268 by Citizen Viktor Todorovic.

I'm running 1.03.054. Never had the problem until upgrading to this latest version today. Let me know at [email protected] if you would like me to send you my save game file.
