Just how "nearby" does a starbase need to be?

I'm starting to contemplate better strategies in my galciv playing... notably production, etc. bonuses from starbases (heh). My question is, just how close does the starbase have to be to a planet in order for the planet to get the bonus from the starbase?

Many starbase abilities state +x% to n on nearby planets... or some such. So I'm wondering how close does the starbase have to be? Right next to it, or within the same sector?

Starbase bonuses are applied as long as the target planet/ship is in the same sector.

All effects are for all planets in that sector.

Except Resources that effect all your empire. Culture also "spills out" from the sector you make them in, deminishing the further out you get from the oringinal sector

Ok, same sector makes things easier then LOL

My current game started me out on 6 yellow stars and a 7th yellow belonging to a minor race (which I uh, eradicated early on... needless to say the Drengin and I are allies...) :D
