Increase Your Research By 10% and Double It!!!

Sounds like a bad sales pitch, but that's what the Tech Capital does right now. You get a piddly 10% bonus even though the description claims to double your research. Since this is probably typo in the code, is there any chance we can get a quick fix? I need some new decorations on my PQ 58 super planet :)

You can go into the data directory and edit the `achievements` file yourself using wordpad. Its very easily done!

I`m sure it will be fixed in a future patch

I know I can change it myself, but I'm not sure how the metaverse would react to that. It's much better if everyone played on even ground anyway.

Technically, if you tweak it for yourself, you're also tweaking it for the AIs, so I guess it's even that way... given the frequency of updates to the data files, and the availability of separately downloadable mods, I'm not sure how SD *could* make sure the ground is even.

I think a good way to fix this would be for SD to stick a CRC entry in each element (modules, achievements, projects, ships) to tag it as 'officially sanctioned'. You could mod the data as much as you like, but if the game detected an entry without a CRC, or with an invalid one, the score would be tagged as coming from an 'unofficial' game.
