Sub-par processors

Hey, I have a laptop with integrated graphics, 240 MB RAM and a Pentium Celeron 1000. Will GalCiv run too slowly on my machine, or will it still work well? Have you guys tested it with machines not containing Pentium chips? Has anyone else had experience in this matter?

I'm really interested in buying the game, but I'm a little leery about buying it until I'm sure it will run well. I bought Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind without trying the demo, and it runs at about 10 frames per second. It's still fun, but it's not nearly the same experience as what I was hoping for. I know that's not going to be a big issue with this game (fps, that is), but I just want to make sure that I don't buy another game that's not going to work very well. Do you guys have any idea when you're going to get a demo out?

Brad said the demo would be out in a couple of weeks, they target for 50MB, including some multimedia. Their problem is to get the right things fit into the filesize. But if you wait for the demo and it works on your computer, then you can buy it without risk.

From the readme:

"The game will play on the following configuration
as long as you do not play on the gigantic sized galaxy:

Windows 98/ME/2000/XP
PIII 300 MHz Processor or equivalent
128 MB of RAM
700MB free hard drive space
DirectX 7.0
Compatible Video Card with 4 MB VRAM"

If you can run Morrowind, I can't imagine you having a problem running GalCiv... but there will be a demo sometime this month (sooner this month rather than later is the plan, I do believe).

I have a laptop with the following:

P3 1Gz Intel
256mb RAM
GeForce Go 32mb video

I also had the problemes with frame rate in Morrowind. I had to turn down the graphic settings and lower the resolution ALOT to get a decent frame rate. Gal Civ runs great on my laptop, even with other programs (Stardock Central, browers, Free Agent) running in the background, so I can't imagine why you would have a problem.

Thanks guys, you're awesome. I appreciate the advice, especially that of Asharak. My comp's not good, but I'm sure it can match a PIII 300 MHz.
