SDC is Great! Thank You!

With all the people who are having problems with SDC I would just like to say thank you for supporting this. IMO it's very frustrating to have to constantly check websites and forums to see if a patch is avialable for a game. Then you have to download it and run it and make sure the directory is correct and so on. It's a real pain. SDC is so easy because all you do is click a button and in a few minutes it's done. The game is patched and you're ready to play. A nice addition would be to add a small readme or text that pops up that shows what additions or changes have been made to the update. Thanks again. :)

If only. :(

I agree... SDC is a wonderful idea. Yes, it is having a few growing pains but I still think it is a good program.

Regarding the "small readme". Have you seen the "History" link in the lower left panel (right next to the version). This will show the updates to the module. Unfortunately... this only seems to be usable for the primary GalCiv Module, not all modules.

I've yet to have a problem with SDC. Maybe I was just lucky, but not complaints whatsoever here.

Yeah it's strange- the only problem I ever had was the initial rgistration fit which nearly everyone had that has been subsequently fixed- sees updates once I load it fresh, d/l's things fine.

Yup, I had some confusion figuring out how to register and what buttons took me where I needed to be but since then no problem.

Click the desktop link, the window opens...check the date next to GalCiv, if its recent click update, read the history while the flood bar fills, close SDC, load the game, start playing.

Every single update (except the windowed version) since the first day it was available...0 problems. Never longer than a minute to download...even the multimedia package.

Working well for me; I had a little problem with registration, as stardock sales has registered me with wrong e-mail address. However, it was small issue and since then, I have no problem (and I luckily avoided C: deleting bug.

And for me as from the beginning: NO PROBLEMS at all. Perhaps it is because I bought Drengin and the registration was from the beginning OK. :)

I have to chip in, and say its works excellent as an updater, and is an easy fool proof way of updating.

Of course the most vocal people are the minority with issues, as is life, people are faster to complain than credit something, hope the few with problems get it sorted though :( as its really a good util once it works as it should.

Working like a charm here. Only had a little problem at the beginning figuring out how not to download the whole packages for updates. After reinstalling GalCiv, everything was fine. Keep up the good work we appreciate it a lot! ;)

I am happy it is working for all of you but I still can't properly log on to it and I feel like I have lost in the crowd. Nobody is answering my posts or emails about the problem. I have to say that my initial happiness with the game and the prospect of continuous developer support is starting to lessen since I cannot access any of the updates.

Ok I have to take it all back. I just got an email back from the devs telling me they fixed my problem from their server. I am once again very impressed with the support in the is game. Now you can flame me by calling me fickle :)

SDC also works great for me, and I had to install it twice (Windoze crashed hard). The only problem I have is that it keeps telling me that the program has to restart for changes to take effect, but I simply ignore it.

It's nice to start it once per day and look for a new patch - like the fix today with the trade! Wheeee! LOL

I love SCD too....and I check everyday to see what goodies Stardock has updated!

Q: Anyone know when SDC is going to be "finished" or are we there already?

"Q: Anyone know when SDC is going to be "finished" or are we there already?".

I think this will never be "finished". It is a constant process of tweaking and upgrading (goes for both SDC AND Galciv,),making better what is already excellent. That is why we all love those guys soo much. Incredible support level, never seen if before. :CONGRAT:

Initally I too found it hard to use SDC. After I figured out what I did wrong I just love the program. There should be some more clarity on the registration part, and that all you do is click on "software" on the left of the screen and there the updates are. If they do not show up just refresh using the tools or view menu's. No one seemed to explain it to me in any e-mails before. I use the SDC everytime I browse messages now it is excellent peice of work. No spyware is what I like the most. Freebie software now a days seems to always contain intrusive spyware. Thanks to Frogboy and his great crew of people. I want to try out more of your software just because of how good the coding is on the products I have tried thus far. :D

The only problem I ever have with SDC is when it gets updated, my Firewall won't allow it to work. I just have to "permit" it to access the Internet, then I'm good.
