All Hail the Sandersons!"

I love the minor civs in this game, don't you? they are so generic in reality (share the same ai engine, right?) despite the designer's humerous blurbs (or am i way wrong here? the alexians seem to be evil often). there's the brain children, the hippies, the midgets, the poopeaters, the....what? the poop eaters?! heehee..... LOL actually my friend and i who were playing a kind of succession game, had a bit more vulgar name but....ever seen the movie, Bubba Hotep? heehee....
i think my favorites have been the sandersons - i mean the sanderons. my same friend and i were in a similar game right after i had purchased the game over the holidays. it was about the 13th + hour of massive all nighter in which a cold one or 2 had been enjoyed and my brain was kind of fritzing when the sandersons showed up. actually within short order both the "sanderons" and the "sanderians" had popped up, but by this time 4 us they were all just "the sandersons". we kind of took a shine to our new neighbors, the sandersons and did some business, helped them out, you know, those sandersons, they're good people.
unfortunately eventually those stupid robots came along and started messing with the poor sandersons. we, being good and militarily unprepared, invested as much as we could to diplomatically stem the tide while we built our military. infortunately the rathra branch of the sandersons succumbed before we were ready and the nesro sandersons were evicted while our battle fleet was en route and only a couple of sectors away. and so it was with heavy heart, greif and shame that we went ahead and attacked the stupid robots anyway, eventually accepting their surrender after hugemungus war. alas poor sandersons, we knew you...well, not so well....
but despair not. miraculously, a few months after the conclusion of the stupid robot war, we recieved a postcard in the mail (via gnn) notifying us of the discovery of a strange new race in the galaxy - THE SANDERSONS! wow! they hadn't been killed after all! just must have snuck out the back door at the last minute and prudently laid low a few months and, poof, found a new home in a more hospitable neighborhood. We took care of the sandersons after that until we culturally absorbed them which in my book qualifies for a happy ending for all. except the stupid robots.
