Exciting things you did not expect from GalCiv.....

Look for some of the posts labeled "AAR". Most of them have notable happenings in them. As for funny quotes and stuff, I'd hate to spoil them for you...some of the diplomacy responses are priceless, though.

An almost defeated Altarian Empire found a Precursor fleet... some 76 corvettes. This was a turning point in the game, they eventually took the last Drengin planet for an alliance victory (with me and Torians).

Also the first time I saw a certain event regarding the sale of Flesh Nectar *wow* LOL

My favorite AI moment was when I had gone on a conquest spree against the minor races (hey, the AIs do it, why not me?) After I'd wiped out the Yor (because they had one system) and a minor race, I had about two-thirds of my combat ships one sector away from the only Arcean system. The Arceans were not at war with anyone, but after I'd wiped out two races and was parked next door, they just surrendered to the Drengin.

It was funny, because they *were* my next target. Anyone with a single world had to go.

I won't say too much, but one of the major races will sometimes help out your enemy by sending them lots of ships...while keeping a smile on their face towards you. LoL! Sneaky bastards.

Oh, and anyone "cuddle" with the Drengin yet? I almost fell outta my chair when I saw that one.

Er, that was supposed to be "snuggle" - damn, I messed that one up!

My honest advice to anyone about to start playing this game: get as much sleep as you can beforehand...

The thing that really surprised me is that I am getting as much enjoyment from this game as I did in Civ II. No any other game managed to do so far, and I was about to give up my hope one day to find a game that will give me so many sleepless nights…

Hmm, in one of my games the Arceans was beaten back by the combined fleets of the Altarians and Torian Empires, the Arcaens sued for peace and gave away all their planets except two.
This was on a huge map so they were indeed in trouble. But then.. then an event came wich said that the Arceans had found an ancient device wich made them more and more powerfull over time, and I was to far away to do anything about it..
About 60 turns later a mighty Arcean fleet launched from their homeworld and within 50 turns they had destroyed the Altarian and beaten the Torians back to one system. The Torians surrendered to me but their planet was soon taken by the Arceans via culture.
I realised that this battle was lost for me and set all resources into research, just when the Arceans destroyed the last Yor planet I reached the Final Frontier. I was completly surrounded by Arcean influence so it was by pure luck I won that game...

This game was very fun to play!

I find switching the morality of races in the complete opposite direction brings some hilarious results when dealing with them, espically the Drengins and Yor.

Having to deal with my first event-created race was a hair-raising experience as well....

I built up a Terror Star and loaded it up with all the culture improvements including the Party Palace. I took that on a tour of Dregin controlled space and without having to fire one shot, all (except one) of their systems rebeled and join the Terrans. Of course, not to be left out, the Alterians had to get something out of it, and raced up to capture that last Dregin system. Naturally with my Terror "Party" Star parked next door, that planet saw the light a few turns later! LOL

Another thing I want to add after reading all of the above post is this:

Was there any point during your game time that you thought to yourself "Yes. I made the right decision in buying the game."

right decision, wrong timing!

I am slap bang in the middle of my proffesional examinations, and wanted some distraction.

But not this much distraction! its too addictive!

This is a cool event, but it happens to me in the early game *all the time* now. I'm rather sick of it, since it always means having to divert resources to extending my range far enough to take out the race in question, and it's *always* a race with either the same alignment with me, or one I'm on very good terms with.
