Help! CTD Crash To Desktop in GalCiv 1.21

hi,

GalCiv 1.21 has reproducible CTDs on my system in the later game. I often have to go 10 turns back to get around them, but in the game I am playing right now, I can´t get around one at all, so I am not able to finish the game ( have played it about 20hrs now :( ) properly.
From Nov2211 to Dec2211 it´s crashing, no matter what I am doing.

I am playing V.1.21, which seems to be the newest version available, without any mods and I am using the newest drivers for all of my components.

I did already download Smart Exception, and started it before starting GalCiv, but it hasn´t produced any log.

My System:
AMD 1800XP+
512MB DDR-ram
Geforce4 Ti4200
Aureon 5.1 Fun
WinXP Pro SP1

Any ideas, suggestions, tips...?

What is in the debug.err file?

I did already download Smart Exception, and started it before starting GalCiv, but it hasn´t produced any log.
End of quote

It hasn't produced any log (ie no popup telling that SmartException has catching the CTD) or are you unable to locate the log?

^^ I get a popup saying "GALCIV.EXE has encountered a problem and has closed (...) SmartException has attempted to log additional information..."

So I press the SmartException button and after that go on to "OpenLog Directory" but in the directory is no log file saved except my installation log.
Isn´t this white window on the left side supposed to show log entries too? Because that is also empty.

I have the same behavior since I haven't found how to tell smart exception where to put the log. You should trie to look at the root of the drive where Galciv is installed. Or search you computer for the file generated (I think it is something like galciv.exe.cra but I could be wrong)

Cari has already stated in an other thread (the one about Galciv 1.21 bug) that if the last line of the debug.err is about Altarian AI setting a social improvement (or something like that), then this a bug that she has already corrected but it is still waiting to be released.

I hope it will be soon. Maybe the fact that many people are reporting this bug can help to speed up things :)

I have read that it is the sound and a temp fix is to turn off the auto save.

the auto to off helped lots but got a CTD happen still so will try turning off the sound and hope till the new release.

Yeah, I'm betting that's the Altarian Social project one.

Once we get the next update for Political Machine done, I'll have the time to sit down and figure out what I need to do for updating Gal Civ and Altarian Prophecy.
