How often does UP meet?

I am relatively deep into the game now (just researched dreadnaughts technology), I already had 5 or 6 elections go by, yet UP met only once... :( :( :(

Why only once? Can it be because Arceans have 37% of the total vote (bigger than any individual race)?

If you are still part of the UP, then it should meet every 4 years or 48 turns.

Why do some UP events that say they are making a permanent decission still pop up later in the game?

I had a permanent decission to fix the minimum number of parsecs a constructor could travel. We voted and it was set to 7 parsecs. It was supposed to be permanent.

Down the road this same resolution came up again. Why? Bug?

Probably just that that event got called up randomly again...

My guess is that by "permanent," they mean it doesn't expire, like most other UP resolutions. But it can still be amended if the issue comes up again.

i believe that UP sessions don't occur until after you've met all the races & gotten univ. translators. then they should occur every 4 years as stated above.

Ok, thanks for the response. I didnt know it was 4 years. I thought it was 24 months, I guess that explains the long wait.

PS: Just now played a bit of GC and UP came up (finally :p )

Actually the UP meets even though you only met for example one race, I have had several UP meetings with just me and one other race. I like to think of it as the UP is a human invention and civlizations join it when they are "discovered". :)

I've actually had UP notices come up without discovering any of the major races. The meeting doesn't actually happen, but it's still an amusing sight.

I'm pretty sure that in one of my recent test games, I had the UP pop when I didn't have the Universal Translator yet. That must've been a confusing vote. :)
