Some AI issues

Well, it has been noted many times about the computer not producing survey ships, but they also don't seem to produce miners or are extremely inneficient with automating them. I feel totally comfortable trading mining techs to the computer because they don't use it at all. Every asteroid is at 5 and then the miner will move to a field 20 turns away rather than upgrade the one they are already on to 10.

Also, when asteroids flip to one of the AIs they do not later readjust the pathing when they get a world closer to the asteroids. I have many times come across a field sending 1 point of production to a world 1/5th of the map away whilst the world right beside the asteroid wallows in a productionless void.

I have also never seen an AI produce constructors to at least bring a resource to 34%, even though they have the tech to do so. That might just be a different priority.

This behavior seems, at least in my experience, to happen with the player's automated miners as well. Kinda defeats the purpose of the automation, no?

Consider that the build times between different mining levels are quite different.

In my experience, the AI has no problem building more miners. I've even seen them SPAM the bloody things when they don't have weapon tech...

Most miners are slow, and don't have engines, thus the AI and automation should check whether starting at a new mining site makes sense from both a travel time and benefit to the nearest colony perspective. That shouldn't be that difficult.

I think AI should improve their star bases' usage, and especially equip military bases with more modules.

Also they should learn to create fleets more activly and never hide so many ships on plants without orbital fleet managers, which will be easily slaughtered one after another.

i actually think it might be better to start all the mines out at least at the basic level - it kind of 'claims' them.

kind of the way a colony rush works, just not as effective because they flip so easily, but still I can see why the AI might do it the way it does.

Am I the only one who sees AIs who consistently build OFMs on ~80%+ of their planets? I keep seeing complaints about how the AI isn't using them, when I seem to remember a time where people complained they spammed them, for lack of a better way to put it.

Maybe I'm the only one who gives them time, but IIRC it only costs 50 to build, and it's from a soldiering tech, so they should still get them fairly early on.

Then again, it's possible I haven't played a "full" game in so long as to not have noticed...I have been doing a lot of partials lately testing things.
