Question about SDC archiving

Hi!
I have a small problem that I need help with.

I have a computer at home that is not connected to the internet. Every few weeks I visit my parents, which have a computer with internet connection.

On my own PC I have an old Stardock Central installed, combined with a pretty old GalCiv 2.
I am now thinking about buying Sins of a Solar Empire and the GalCiv 2 addon.

Stardock Central gives the option to archive games. Can I download them at the internet-PC I use now and then simply extract and play them at my own PC (without internet access)?
How is it with compartibility (do I need to install a newer SDC on my non-internet-PC)?
How about activation (I had to activate my GC2 via email, will the expansion pacl require a new activation or will the old one stay in effect? How about Sins of a Solar Empire, does that need activation?)?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, you will want to update SDC on your home machine. If you get DA or TA those need activated separately from GC2. Sins would need activated as well. So if you're going to get them all, best do it all in one shot.

With all the activation hassle I figured it would probably be easier to just take my offline PC to a friend and do it all via SDC there.

It worked fine with Sins but for TA I get the following error:

I had a similar problem in that I couldn't get parts of the game to re-install nicely and I couldn't find my DL disk to get past the updater. It kept bombing out.

Ultimately, I did find my DL disk, used it, and then the updater worked flawlessly. As a test, I also did a full download->install on my laptop to see if it was my internet connection or my desktop PC. Worked fine on my laptop without any hiccups.

Later, I re-installed from scratch again on my desktop via SDC and it worked fine too. Go figure.
