Help a total noob to the genre.

Hey guys, I hope this isn't asking much, but GalCiv2 is my first foray into turned based strategy games, and frankly, I am trying to get a firm grasp on how to play this game. I have watched the tutorials, and read https://www.galciv2.com/Journals.aspx?AID=104908 but it has only taught me a little bit on how to play the game. What is the best way for me to actually learn how to play the game, and learn every nook and cranny of game?

Play a few games at beginner difficulty level in small/medium maps. If you're unsure of something simply quicksave the game and try it. If it blows up in your face, reload the game using the quicksave file and try something else. Spend some time looking through the Wiki. Also read the strategy and AAR sections of this forum. When you master the AI and long for a human opponent check out Stardock's latest game Sins of a Solar Empire.

These forums are loaded with questions from players of all levels. So when you have specific questions just bring them here, the other players are always glad to help. They're really a great bunch of people.

The best way to learn is to what Jmiddleton said, just start a game on a lower level of difficulty and see what happens. Since you are so new I'm not really sure where to start with giving advice. Just know that everyone play a bit differently and it still works, so play the way you feel comfortable as long as you are successful.

One thing to keep in mind, no mater which way you go, ECONOMY is the key to this game and others like it.

So go play, we'll be here when you get stuck....
