Gmax converting to X

I'm working on the models for my new mod "The Bringers of Light" and i started with
3DS Max but my trial version ran out and i was forced to revert back to Gmax. I was wondering, does anyone know of a way to convert the gmax files to .X files? or does anyone know of a way to import the Gmax files to Blender (which i dont know how to use) so i can export it from there? please help me, i dont want to have spent all of this time in vain. Also, does anyone know of a converter for converting the gmax files to something that can be converted to a .X file?

Gmax is designed to export directly to games with custom formats, as such it's dependent on dev-made plugins just for that. There's no .x exporter that I'm aware of, since that would make it much more useful and fewer people would need to buy 3dsm.

there is an aternative program unwrap3d actualy I find that its easier to use than max plus you can place textures on ships very easy the only flaw with it is I doint know if you can place hardpoints havient tried yet plus its very cheap for what it does only 49$ OR 59$ for the pro version.Trust me its worth it you can convert models from almost any format even raw and DDS and I search for months to find a 3d modeler that would do that cause max sure couldin't well thats all for now I hopes thats this helps heres a link youll see what im talking about WWW Link
