DA Arcean

I notice that the official mod only covers DL so can anyone please tell me when modding ships, what the race number for the Arcean is in Dark Avatar?

Number 3.
TA is still under 0, Korath has taken over slot 10, and the Krynn enjoys spot 11. Custom is 12.

O.K. help me out here guys. I don't just want to play Terran, there's lots of other races available but the problem is that the only ship mods I've seen are for Human, Drengin and Altarian. None for the other races, such as Arcean. Thing is, I thought that by simply changing the number of the ships in the mod from S0 to S3 (in this case) they'd appear in collection of that races ships. Obviously some you have to research but that's not the issue.

The problem is that when I do change the number and research the appropriate technologies, they don't appear for that race. The exception so far is the "Terran Naval-style Ships" mod by Croc411 which actually does work with the other races. But for the life of me I can't figure out why. Yes, they're in the right folders, yes the right assocaited mod is activated but the blasted things will not work for any other race other than Human.

The answer is, why?

Trying an explanation (anyone should correct me if i'm terribly wrong with this).

The main condition to stick a fleet to any race relies more on the type defined in their "raceconfig.xml" slots... BUT, when you alter that number - it shouldn't re-use major/race's reserved styles and defaults as those are either pre-defined at boot-time or within any valid mod folders, given the fact ***ALL*** necessary assets (models, textures, etc) are compatible with anything active.

Now, what may have occured in your case (probably) is that TWO active MAJOR races were requesting the same resources AT the same time. Thus, conflict.

A Copy/Paste in extra numbers like S70+ (outside the actual default gaps) would (and, i say this in theory... CariElf or Kryo would be much more accurate as to the exact variations involved) provide a fresh set of brand-new types with a new name which you could use with the Arcean (in slot 4) by tagging the appropriate xml lines with your data.

I may be misunderstanding your question but if the problem is having ships available for other races all you have to do is choose another race ship style under the appearance tab and all the mods and ships will be available for the race you pick.
