Endless downloading of Twilight beta

It keeps going and going and going

I've run into an odd problem with the latest beta. This is a fresh install of the whole game on a fresh, fully patched, install of Windows XP Pro. All the other bits of GalCiv 2 installed without a hitch but Twilight won't install. When the download meter gets to 100% it just resets to 0% and starts downloading the same thing all over again.

I've tried rebooting but no joy. X-(

Any thoughts?

Make sure you have the 'show prerelease versions' box at the bottom of SDC checked.

Same issue on my laptop, gc2_Twilight.sdc keeps looping over and over.

Show pre-release versions is checked too

I downloaded the update this morning on my laptop, no problem. When I tried to update my desktop this afternoon I got the same looping effect. It hits 100% and then just keeps going. I stopped it twice at 2500%... It just keeps downloading the Twilight.Exe_

Any ideas what could be the problem?

Ok, dodgy solution until SD fix the issue.

1. Copy your Twilight folder from your laptop to the desktop.
2. On Desktop : Delete the \Twilight\sig.bin file then run Twilight and it will ask you for your id/serial no. Enter those and hey presto.

Note the SDC will still think that you have 0.95[b].002 but you'll def have the latest.

I had this same problem on my Vista machine. If you are also running Vista, restart SDC running the application as an administrator. This can be done by right clicking on SDC and choosing the option "Run as Administrator".

I think that SDC used to run as an administrator by default and as far as I can tell it changed in the last version that was released.

I'm having the same problem, yet I'm on windows XP. It gets to 100% downloaded and then restarts over at 0%. I could try reinstalling the game from the beginning. Yes my windows XP account is a separate Admin account. I've even saved a version of the full SDC and decompressed it into Mod_Twilight to see if it would skip the download step.

I don't have any ideas currently, except that it's annoying.. which isn't such a great idea.

If you're having a download loop on XP then it is more likely just a lack of having prerelease versions checked.

I've tried it about seven times today and it still loops for me. I'm 100% sure I had the prerelease versions box checked every time. Also tried closing firewall software and opening sdcentral.exe with the 'Run as' menu and unchecked the box for 'Protect my computer from unauthorized program activity.' Nothing works.

I second that. Still an infinite loop. I even un-installed, deleted the temp folder in Stardock, and then re-installed. To no avail. On XP, without show pre-released versions checked.

I'm also having this problem, and I AM checking "Show pre-release versions." It is looping endlessly. Anyone have a fix?

Same problem here, I just bought this second expansion and made sure the "show pre-release" is checked, yet it just keeps downloading again and again... probably a problem in stardock central, never happened before with any release I downloaded. Laptop with Vista here

If that's not sorting it, then there may be something up with the servers... you can try switching to the other from whichever you're using, and if that doesn't help, hit up [email protected] (they won't be able to reply until Monday, though).

I was able to get it to finish after I switched servers from us-2 to us-1. I remember this worked one other time I was having problems with SDC.

That did the trick for me as well. There seems to be something amiss with Server 2.
