Can't install on non-C:/ partition?

Using SD Central

Hey, I've got the strangest problem here. I've installed and played GC2 plenty of times in the past, but I've always use the C:/ as the location. This time around, windows is installed on the C:/, but I'm keeping my games and media on the M:/. Unfortunately, when SD Central asks where I want to install GC2, it won't accept any location on the M:/. The C:/ works just fine, but I don't want to install it there!

Why the alphabetical discrimination? Shouldn't any file location that is recognized by windows work just as well as another?

Strange. I have no problems installing SDC supported software on a different partition (F: in my case).

I just reformated my computer the other day (still loading stuff) and GalCiv 2 easily installed onto my G: drive.

I'm not sure what is your problem. Are you installing form CDs, or from Stardock Central? SDC worked fine for me. It only asked for my account and a few other details before I was able to start loading my games again.

In any case, you might want to check to see if you are able to load any other games on to your M: drive. If not, you might want to have your system checked out.

Or, add the path into your environment variables.

I changed the drive letter of my secondary hard drive on my other machine to M:, like in your configuration, and tried installing the game there using SDC. Worked fine.

As others have said, it should work fine (does for me). Please contact [email protected]. You should receive an automated response shortly after you send the mail with your ticket number; if you don't, check your spam/bulk folders.

Hah! Figured it out. I had the root of my M:/ set as my "My Documents" folder. Apparently this was freaking out SDC, because as soon as I changed it back to the default, M:/ installations worked fine.

I guess it was poor practice to have the root of the drive as the "My Documents" folder ;p . "M:/My Documents" should fix that nicely. Thanks for the replies.
