Ghost Spending

I don't know if you would consider this a bug, but on all my colonies it shows that im spending alot more than I actually am. For instance, on a colony I just started it show that it is spending around bc a turn, but I am only spending 6bc(2 military, 2 social, 2 research). I don't understand why Im haveing to pay 9 extra bc when the planet isn't acctually spending that much. This has been around though in some form since GalCiv2 Original. This isn't so much a problem later on, but it is pretty bad for the beginning. This spending that isn't acctually being spent herts alot (espectially with the new insane maintenance cost :( ).

What about the maintenance cost for the initial colony?

Of course, I don't even remember what that is.

Maintenance is a separate cost. It includes Maintenance for the colony, and combined maintenance of the planetary improvement's. So a new colony makes like 8bc a turn, and Loses about 18bc for maintenance and 15bc for spending (even though its only spending 6). I don't know if these Ghost costs are actually charged to you, but it sure seems like it.

Very stupid question, but are you sure it is on all colonies or just on colonies where you have just the basic associated colonization tech?

Don't tell me its a stupid question if your not going to explain why. BTW I have no trouble counting and can see the planets show more spending on a planet than is occuring. Now if there is something happening that I don't understand you could try explaining that instead of flamming me (which I believe is against the forum rules), or just keep you trap shut!

Yes, on a newly colonized perfectly normal planet, I see around 16-18bc in "spending" even though no planetary improvements are being built. Then there's also the 18-20bc for "maintenance".

That's nearly 40bc of deficit, minus the 5bc of 'income', leaving me 35bc in the hole every turn for a very long time.

This also means that any colony with under 40bc income is a cash sink, and the cost of 'spending' and 'maintenance' skyrocket when you actually put anything ON the planet.

This necessitates 'cash planets', as there's no chance in hell of every planet at the very least paying itself off.

I've been wondering where this idiotic 'spending' is coming from for a long time now. I can see the 'maintenance' charge as I think it was 15bc baseline for every new colony added a long time ago. But spending? What the crap! No wonder the economy is tanked in this game.

I've yet to play a 'proper' game with the new update; but with 0.94 I had no problem keeping my economy up. In fact, it was a too easy in my opinion.

Try learning english before going crazy and insulting the guy. He wasn't saying your question was stupid you moron. He was saying that HIS question was stupid. Notice how his sentence ended in a question mark? Those are known as QUESTIONS.

The spending on colony screen includes maintenance. So when you read spending 28, is that composed of:
- 12 BC maintenace for Initial colony,
- 2 BC maintenance for one Factory,
- 7 BC for paying Factory and Initial colony social production (building another factory, social spending slider at 33%) and
- 7 BC for funding Initial colony's research production (research slider at 66%).

What the real problem is, is bonus production payment. It's not shown anywhere on the colony screen, but can easily be twice or three times the payment for a base production. So you see a planet produces 150 RPs, but you see you're paying for the whole planet only 80 BC. The cost of about 35 BCs of bonus production is hidden (you pay only a half of bonus production, the other half is free). But 35 BCs is not a problem. Only once I've had a real monster-research planet with the research output of ~6000 TPs. But the colony screen has shown I'm spending only ~900 BC for it.  :SURPRISED: IMO THAT qualifies for "spending a lot more that I acutall am". ;)

Oh, ok. So spending is the total cost of the collony? This would explain alot lol.
