This is the official thread for The Bringers of Light mod for DA, by DSep. Post any recommendations, bugs, compliments or any other comments related to the mod on this thread. That way i get to see everything. Or you could always go to my website located Here (it's easier to get there by link since i don't have a domain name) to get the most up to date downloads and news. Most of the news and other stuff will be posted here as well so you don't have to actually to go to my site (i just like making stuff like that for fun).

i just added over 25 new things to my "to do" list, so expect the 0.4.6 release to be something special. I added alot of things that are essential to civilizations, such as Communications Jamming, supermarkets (food bonuses not economy)and trade goods, such as gold and platinum and ofcourse some more weapons and races!! just remember that it'll take awhile. although i just happen to have alot of time over the next few weeks since i'm on vacation. it's possible that i'll have a release on my site prior to the 0.4.6 release so i'll keep you posted on that and all other updates.

is this your first mod because I wouldin't be calling it the sickiest mod out if it is.Because Ive made over a 10 conversion and never called them the best but heres a list of just the ones ive released.

I've finally gotten to starting on new models and my next release will include new ones. just be patient since i'm working on a lot of new things for my next release.

This look like a interesting mod. Where did you get your inspiration for it? Kind of reminds me of Harry Turtledove's alternate history where aliens invade the Earth during WWII and the Axis and Allies are forced to work together.

If this has nothing to do with that you should consider it cause I think it would work really good with you model all the factions are the same and you can add the Alien lizards in.

Ohh another question, why is it the fifth not fourth Reich?

1. it all came from my imagination.
2. I have read harry turtledove books, not the WWII ones
3. I'll see about the alien lizard guys- very possible but not necessarily going to happen.
4. The Fifth Reich because 1. it's many years into the future, there could have already been a fourth reich by the time they came to power 2. that just what i happened to decide but factors like this are always subject to changes.

Sounds good. I had to look it too. The aliens refer to themselves as the "Race" and their lizards.

So are you working on models, as in 3dmax add new models into the game or are you creating a custom ship packs based on the parts in game. Normally I would say new models are cool but to be honest you really don't need to go that far since there is so much author created concept here. It would be cool to imagine the styles that a Nazi, USSR, Allies, and United States factions would come up with going into space. If you have the modeling skills you might consider adding new components rather than new complete hulls, to further the feel of each faction.

Hard to say. From a pure model stand point. Not bad, I mean its better than I can do. And a good modeler is worth his weight in gold around here. I would have to reseve judgment completely till it was closer to completion.

But from a mod theme point of view it depends on your inspiration for it. This mod has a intresting feel to it. A whole WWII in space. You might consider searching out some of the x-type ships and planes of WWII as source material for the mod. think it might add something special to a pretty neat idea for a mod.

i'm thinking of adding WWII planes to the game but to start it off i just made what i felt like and that just happened to be a speeder (no screen and unfinished) and an F-18 (screenshot at the top and also unfinished) but yeah, eventually i would like to add WWII models. Maybe something like that bomber at the bottom of the picture you posted. It's all in the works. Stuff like this is just going to take time, especially since my biggest problem is texturing, otherwise the models would be flowing left and right. It took me about an hour to do that rough draft for the F-18. Then over the last few days i have been refining it and preparing it.
Another problem i'm having is with creating a modded scenario for my missions. I use GalCiv2 IDE for it and it only works for the standard races. I have to edit anything referring to a race name, manually. I still plan on releasing it, EVENTUALLY! ;) Just in a long time. Also modding isn't the only thing i do with my spare time and this also affects the timetable. Nevertheless, i plan on making releases every one or two months and they will have a considerable amount of updated data.

Be alert for version 0.4.1, i have scheduled it to be release within the next few days, i just want to finish the main races that weren't complete for the last release ("The Allies" "The Americans" etc.). Regretably, no new models will be released in this version due to many setbacks. oh well maybe next time. Work on the campaign is starting up again after being stopped for a month. maybe next release will include a mission or two.

Version 0.4.1 has been released!download it here or at my site. it includes many new updates and some finished races. regrettably, no new models are available in this update due to the massive amount of setbacks. no promises but next release will probably include new models.

as of yet it hasn't actually been approved here but maybe tomorrow. as for now, you can download here at mydownloads page

for the next release i'll probably focus much less on techs and improvements and instead i'll do much more work on the campaign and the models.

I just noticed a thread on I-Mod about making race specific tech trees for DA and i might implement into The Bringers of Light eventually, just to spice things up.
it'll be kinda cool but it would take a long time since i'd have to make a lot of extra techs to make up for the ones i take away from races.

MOD UNTIL THE 0.4.1f VERSION IS RELEASED!


There is a serious bug in the

raceconfig.xml that is screwing the whole thing up!


sorry i didn't find this sooner! i should have made sure to test the mod right before releasing this version. Stupid
me!! i'll try to have the 0.4.1f version out within the next day or two. once again, sorry.
