Aircraft carriers?

So is there anyway to make an aircraft carrier type spaceship in the game?

I'd love to build a long-range, fast transport that allows me to carry short-range strike fighters.

Can that be done?

Spacecraft Carriers would be the correct term as they aren't fighting in the air.
