Tech tree bugs in TA beta 4a

Tech bugs and oddities as of beta 4a:

  • Techs 'Fleet Defense', 'Xalax Defense Coordination' and 'Zalon Defense Mainframe' don't seem to do anything: No bonuses, no ship modules.

  • The Terran ship modules 'Xalax Defense Coordination' and 'Zalon Defense Mainframe' are activated by tech 'Advanced Defensive Techniques', I guess they should be moved to their proper techs.

  • An inconsistency: Terran ship module 'Stellar Avenger' (Attack +20%) only works in own sphere of influence while 'Stellar Defender' (Defense +25%) works everywhere (and its description is confusing). I guess 'Stellar Defender' was meant to work only in the own sphere of influence as well.

  • Techs 'Ion Beams I, II, III' don't seem to do anything.

  • There's a ship component 'Particle Beam' and a 'Particle Beam I' (for Drengin/Korath/...), I guess that should be I and II.

  • Krynn improvement 'Super Spy Training Center' improves planetary research (it's not a global bonus). This might be intentional but then it should be mentioned in the description (just like it is for the 'Temple of Espionage').

  • It is impossible to demolish the Krynn 'Consulate' one-per-planet improvement, but its brothers 'Temple of Krynn' and 'Order of Krynn' can be demolished (which is a good thing IMHO).

  • The Thalans can only build two starbase mining modules (for a total of +14%) out of their own tech tree, is that intentional?

  • Altarian tech 'Enhanced Defenses' is empty.

General suggestions:

  • Once again, please show the 'One Per Planet' icon when such an improvement is highlighted in the available projects list on the colony screen. The icon is shown only when you actually build the improvement, this is a little late.

  • It would be nice if it was possible to suppress alien buildings from the available projects list (temporarily or even permanently), the list gets cluttered a lot with all these new buildings, but you only need a fraction of them. Maybe they could simply be moved to the 'Old' tab with a right-click, pretty please? :)

This is particularly worrisome since I cannot build any defenses on my starbases. Thalans never get the starbase module Battle Stations. This is a simple fix.

There's a tech in the Drath tree, I believe, that also introduces a 'ship module' that is also non-existent.

Hah, found the cause of this bug. The Stellar Avenger is noted as providing the following: < AtlasAttackInZOCStrength >20< /AtlasAttackInZOCStrength >

However, the Stellar Defender is: < AtlasDefenseStrength >25< /AtlasDefenseStrength >

Obviously it should be changed to: < AtlasDefenseInZOCStrength >25< /AtlasDefenseInZOCStrength >

I tested it and it works. :D

Other races can get a what, +180% or something? I forget, but that seems a little one-sided if you ask me.

I think you're talking about influence starbases, while he was talking about resource starbases. I could be wrong.

My post above was about resource mining indeed. The Thalans can reach a maximum of +14% per resource starbase, while all (?) others have +39% if I recall correctly.

I believe a lot of Thalan starbase modules linked to Hyperion Starbases didn't make it into Beta 4 or 4a, I think a dev said that after the release of Beta 4.

    Aye in my post "he"=e-stab and "you"=Uranium - 235

The Korx get some additional resource mining techs as a racial tech. Off-hand I don't know how much more though.

Hmm, I hope my points were noted by someone, somehow?

These 3 were still hanging around in the latest build.  Fixed, fixed, and fixed.  Thanks for finding 'em!
