Destroy Colony = Planet Quality 0

I recently discovered that if you destroy a colony using the Destroy Colony button under planet details, it reduces the Planet Quality to 0, making uncolonizable from that point onward. I first discovered this in beta 4 of TA, but it is still true in v1.80g Beta 4a. Is this meant to be the case? It wasn't like that in Dread Lords (I just tried it out). I hadn't caught this until now because I am not in the habit of abandoning colonies.

I can't speak to Dread Lords, but it was definitely in for Dark Avatar and has been for a long time.

Yes, it's quite intentional.

If I recall corectly, destroying a colony in previous versions resulted in the planet's PQ to be reduced by 2. After that, you could recolonize.

The problem with that was, if you had a PQ bonus ability, the act of colonizing would increase the PQ again. If the planet was 17+ before its destruction, you would get a class 15 or better. If you had a +20% PQ bonus, you get 3 additional tiles giving you a planet with a PQ atleast 1 point better than what you had. If you kept this up, you could get a class 72 (no point in going any further, you can't see any more tiles).

Personally i'd rather see it just destroy your colony, not the planet (i.e. leave the planet quality unaltered, just remove all improvements and population). But that's just me.
