Dark Avatar 1.8g bugs (1 of 2 resolved)

I just updated to 1.80g and am now experiencing a very annoying bug: a large amount of text is not displayed. The class of planets, my income and expense data, and the events summary that pops up at the beginning of every turn, to start with. This is making the game rather unplayable (I don't even know when I'm at war!), and I don't know how to fix it. I'd appreciate some help.

Edit: This bug appears both on old 1.8e savegames and on new 1.8g games, every time.
Another edit: Restarting seems to have fixed it. Odd, but good.

I get only the following error with GCDA ;

When contacted by another race, usually at their disapproval of a base
somewhere, I get [StarbaseName] instead of the actual name of the starbase
they are talking about.

I played a game where when I was at war with the Drengin they suddenly signed a peace treaty with me without even asking me. I noticed it when I told a fleet to attack a Drengin fleet and the game warned me that this would be an act of war. I called off the attack and ended the turn and then got a message that the Terran Alliance(me) has made peace with the Drengin Empire. I had an alliance with the Altarians who were also at war with the Drengin. They also made peace. I think it only happens when an ally makes peace with a mutual foe.
