Boy does this baby know how to crash!

crashes in the invasion screen, crashes in the technology researched screen and crashes when the AI knows when I'm going to beat it! Going back to Dark Avater while I still have my hair.

Wait, crashes in the technology researched screen? Which race, and which tech caused the crash?

And what about the other crash, when you were about to win?
Crashes in a beta, gee never thought that would ever happen. ;p

C'mon please provide a bit more info on your problems so they can be addressed by the Devs. That is the whole point of the beta, to eradicate these issues.

crashes when the AI knows when I'm going to beat it!
End of quote

Now c'mon you don't really believe that is the case do you?

how about your debug.err
5$ says you have a dated driver...

well I have been playing all day for the last 2 . I use quick save allot. It froze once as human when I acquired a tech which slips my mind at the moment. As to the AI knowing I'm winning and crashing it happens when I'm in a large map, I'm using 3 opponents. No minor races as they give very high end techs to my opponents. And I have em by the short hairs! Once again quick save allot. Today I was having graphic weirdness with the screen seeming to simulate 4 bit color which I have to alt tab and exit to get out of it. Running the most current nvidea beta driver. Maybe its the sli acting up. Love the beta. I'll see it out. Stay tunned.

I get random crashes just about everywhere too. Usually before or after an invasion. The crashes seem to happen more frequently if I am playing a game that I saved before I won. I often save the game about 5 turns before winning, so I can go back and try different things. I've also heard that loading a saved game of the game you are playing (while you are playing) can corrupt the save. Its supposed to be fixed, but when I do this, the crashes seem to happen more often.
The invasion crashes have already been fixed for the next release. If you have any other crashes, it's most helpful if you get SmartException reports for them (see the making beta reports sticky) and send them in.

Its crashing consistently now.Heres the debug

That debug shows a normal exit. The no files found message is also normal.

I'm getting crashes constantly too in this beta, but I've sent in my smartexception and debug.errs each time.

I hope you guys are doing that.
Ya, make sure you guys send in your smart exception. I get a lot of random crashes when I hit the turn button. Sometimes I can reload and keep playing. Sometimes I get to a specific turn and no matter how often I reload it always crashes during that same turn. Those are the games I send my smart exception in and then later they tell me to send in my saved game for testing.

I am a computer technician and I kid you not in the last month since I started playing my Twilight of the Arnor beta, twice the game froze up completely, couldn't hit ctrl alt del, or hold down my power button on my computer to turn it off. Once I unplugged it from the back it never came back on.

I truly believe this game fried my 350 watt power supply twice somehow. In the 10 years I've been fixing computers I have never seen that hehehe. It is a beta and I am still playing. Although if I didn't have a warranty on my power supply I probably wouldn't play any more LOL.
The game can not be at fault if you are frying power supplies.

As a tech, you should know that.
Yeah... sounds like you're using underpowered PSUs, or need to pick a more reliable brand.
Hey bigpopa, I'd be very suspicious of the power supply, 350 Watts isn't all that much these days, especially with higher powered graphics cards. I'd seriously consider replacing it with at least a 450W PSU (depending on what kind of graphics card and number of hard drives you've got).
I also have huge probs with latest beta : in fact my whole PC freezes after playing like hmmm ... 30 seconds !
With the previous version I could play 1 hour and get a freeze, now 30 seconds is ... well unplayable !
Surely there is some hardware problem with my system (that doesn't crash with DA though).
I have NO debug.err file created in TA dir so can't give any, and here is my DX diag report.

Please someone, help !

I have noticed that the game locks up alot now. I'm pretty deep into my current game. Just seems that so much is going on that the game just likes to lock up on you. I'm also in a big war between me. (yor) and the korath. Its pretty much unplayable or something. Oh most seems like a Memory Leak of some sort.

Too bad because It would of been an epic battle.

The wattage of a power supply isnt as important as the amps on particular rails. I believe graphics cards utilize the 12v rail. 350 would probably be sufficient with a strong 12v rail, assuming he isnt running a dozen hard drives as well.
It may not be the game but like I said I have never had any trouble before I started playing and seeing how it did the same thing twice it seems way too coincidental. I don't see how its possible the game caused this either.

My professional opinion is that the game is running on my pentium 4 1.8 Ghz processor to the max on my computer which somehow is overloading my power supply. I have a weak 256mb geforce 5200 fx graphics card which doesn't even require a power plug into it. Only 640mb of memory. Its plugged into a good surge protector. And ya, its an old computer and maybe the motherboard can't control the watts any more but you think the board or processor would fry first.

I am just saying it seems so weird that having this computer for years and all of sudden I am shooting through power supplys when I start to play Twilight of the Arnor.

Could also be that the first one had just happened to finally give out, and the one you replaced it with was simply defective.
