New Invasion Screen

I have been playing with the new invasion screen, btw it looks nice, but everytime I attack only the enemy troops go down with their coloured bar.

Mine has yet to go down, the numbers go down however.

I was also wondering that when we destory all the troops at one of there flags, shoudl our guys not move over it, otheriwse when you get to the end, our troops are shotting at each other from one side of the planet to the other side, not very good really.

ive tried to try out the new invasion screens, but it crashes the game as soon as someone tries to invade me (and i suppose if i tried to invade), normally i can play this game on full whack in immense Galaxy, but i tried his on tiny, and re-tried with an auto-save with all my settings on minimum, and it STILL crashed ;p

I've also had a crash every time so far when the enemy invades me (3 attempts), but not when I invade him (1 attempt)

I tried the new invasion screen today what do the flags mean in the bottom window and the main window is just black, is there supposed to be something happening in that window or not?

So I tried to see if I could get a crash by forcing an invasion. I started the Dread Lords campaign, set the difficulty to challenging (which before has managed to get me invaded as soon as the Drengin builds some transports. I let it run until I was sick of the turn button, and the Drengin did nothing but build ships and immediately destroy any ships that the Altarians or I built. I even gave him all the technology I researched, but he just sat there with his four worlds and refused to invade.

I was wary of putting it too high, because the Altarians might destroy the Drengin. I do think I need to put it at least one more step up, though.

You could've saved yourself about 30 minutes by just using cheats and gifting a ton of transports to the enemy... and yes, it does crash, even in the most simplistic game.

I just cheated up to Transports, teleported to my neighbor, gifted him a transport and then declared war on him, he instantly tried to invade Dratha IV and *crash* :D

EDIT: By the way - I've never had the Drengin try to invade me on the DL campaign's first few missions.

Just to pile on here, my games have all crashed as well when the AI attempts to invade one of my worlds.

I have had them invade, when I was testing something else (whether the Altarians would bother to attack the Drengin instead of filling my space with influence starbases). I was playing it in Dark Avatar and Dread Lords.

Also, I can't access cheat functionality. For some reason, when I try to make a shortcut to any of the GalCiv II exes and add the cheat switch to the command line, when I click "apply", the quote marks are removed from the command line, and when I try to use cheats in the game, nothing happens.

Also, the Drengin had over a dozen transports when I finally gave up. They just weren't invading.

Really hope we can get a hotfix for this soon - it's pretty much impossible to play a real game now :(

Thank you much. I should actually post about this in more depth with screenshots. I am doing it correctly and something's failing when I click "Apply" in the properties dialogue box.

You guys could learn a thing or two from EA games - for one, stop talking to us, secondly, refuse to respond to or acknowledge any real problems, and three, don't release patches even for game-breaking problems if you can get away with it.

Seriously, I hate having my standards raised. Stop it. :D

Are we supposed to be getting an animated battle on the video screen on this build or is that comming on a later build? Right now mine is just black.

The video that is played is based on the improvements on the planets.  In the beta that is available we do not have a lot of videos yet.  If you attack a planet and it has no improvements or the improvements do not have a video, it will be black at the top of the screen.  I've made changes to make a default video play if no video can be found from the improvements, but this change hasn't been released yet.

I am currently working on reproducing the crash when you get invaded.

EDIT:
STATUS REPORT: Crash has been reproduced.  Working on a solution...

Good news!  I found the source of the crash and fixed it.  The fix will be in our next update.

I have to ask... but how is this possible? One of the videos played in the invasion screen is the Initial Colony or Civ Capital, and one of those certainly should be on every planet.

handofzarguon: This was a bug when playing a pre-Beta4 saved game (none of the invasion data was in the improvement file).

Will be fixed for the next update.

When will the next update be? Yesterday you were saying today for the crash bug, but it looks like that's not happening.

Ah, gotcha. Never realized changes didn't affect old games until today...

Techincally, he said nothing of getting a patch released, he would try going about and fixing (well, squashing, but you get the idea) the bug... ;)

Still, it would be nice to know if we will get a small update to fix these few issues or if we will have to wait for the next beta...

I was really hoping for a small update to fix this game-stopping bug, yes. :(
