How to conquer a Toxic World

Hi there. I'm new to GC and Dark Avatar. I been playing for 2 days now and i'm having an issue. I get rid of all the ships of the enemy planet, now i have my "transport" ready to take the planet, but the transport wont do nothing when i rigth click the planet. I noticed a green radioactive icon in the planet, so i search for it in the PDF manual and it says it's a "toxic world".
Now, i now that i have the requiered tech to conquer the planet (because the icon is green, not yellow or red) but i dont know how to conquer it. Also, i look in the shipyard for some kind of "toxic support" add-on module for the transport with no luck.

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.-

You should be able to invade normally.

Maybe the transport is out of movement points and you need to wait a turn?

Nope, the trasnport have moves left. I even wait for the next turn and try again, and again...

A screenshot would help?

Any oter ideas?

Not trying to sound demeaning or anything, but if the world is owned by another race, are you sure you're using a transport and not a colony ship to invade it? I've made that mistake before, and it took me a while to realize it. Another thought would be, do you have an alliance with the race you're trying to use the transport on?

Well, that just great... i was trying to take the planet with a "space miner" instead of a "transport"... sorry, as i say, im new to the game.
Thanks anyway!

If there is a little grey shield next to the planet the problem is due to enemy space craft guarding the planet. Then you have to destroy those ship before proceeding with your invasion.

He said he destroyed the orbiting ships first, so an alliance seems unlikely.

mdrago, this sounds like a bug.

Excerpt from The Space Miner of Caerbannog

--------------------------------------
There's their fleet!

Where, behind the space miner?

It is the space miner!

You silly sod, you got us all worked up!

Well, that's no ordinary space miner.

Oh?

That's the most foul, cruel, and bad-tempered space miner you ever set eyes on!

You tit! I soiled my armour I was so scared!

Look, that space miner's got a vicious streak a mile wide! It's a killer!

:D

By the way, you don't actually need the toxic world tech to invade the planet, just to colonize it. If you invade (or otherwise acquire) a planet that you don't have the colonization techs for, you simply won't get any production on the planet (no hammers or shields).

Hilarious situation if there is ever one!

Confusing stock-made ships can be fun at times but consider this, also;

- In a swooping type of mood for fleet upgrades, i once started to create a whole armada of brand spanking new Hyperwarp-driven specialty ships. Only to screw a category enough so that it showed up as a pseudo-cargo when it really was a simple survey thingy, but much faster. So there i was, looking AT my top-notch cargo for a few months waiting for some opportunity to make good use of it.
All the awhile, a series of anomalies spawned all over the map. I still had my initial-slick-type-surveyor sloooooooow edition (identical in both shape & name, btw) and went for everything as fast as i could (Who can seriously reject a few bonuses? Free!). When all was done and over, every other AIs had picked up more than 80% of that treasure. And the very much faster surveyor/champion of all was still gloriously parked on some orbit somewhere, somehow, patiently waiting for key-cargo to load up and spread around... eventually.
- Duh.

So, if you design some faster ships, do me a favor & do something else while you're at it; put a big-fat-huge set of winglike structural elements on that hull to make it graphically stand-out from the rest and please, give it an obvious unique tag-name too... so you could FIND the darn thing if need be, when and then!! ;)

I almost alway play zoomed out to icons, so identifying ship types isn't a problem. :)

One thing I did in my last game that proved useful was upgrading unused colony ships to surveyors. I always send out colony ships towards all other races' territory in hopes of grabbing a few worlds at their fringes for a range/influence foothold. Works very well, especially if I can drop a few agents on their production centers and slow down their colony rush. Anyway, if I don't find any habitable worlds I've been saving the colony ships to upgrade to transports later. By making them surveyors instead I had a massive advantage in anomaly bonuses, plus 4 out of 5 of them hit enough starship graveyards to become credible warships as well.
