Passive diplomatic AI?

Does not contact me very often

Hi,

I'm still considering me as a newbie regarding GalaCivII(Dark Avatar) so perhaps my impression is not correct.

After a couple of turns/new game (Difficult Level: Beginner) it seems, that the AI fractions are pretty passive.
They rarely contact me to exchange technologies etc., but if I contact them, then they usually trade techs.

Is my impression correct and is the game designed in this way?

If you download the latest patch "1.80g" you will find that the AI is very stingy. They rarely trade away tech's that are valuable and are diffcult to negotiate with if you have limited diplomatic skills.

Let them go to war with someone and once they start getting crushed...then your phone won't stop ringing.

to answer part of you question, on every difficulty level i have played (upto maso) the AI almost never initiates a trade. Maybe once every 3 games i've played.

As far as what they will trade. see above. Forget abot weapons techs and mining and a lot of stuff they wont really trade. But yea, they are passive.

Ok, then this area could be improved in my opinion.

The AI in Alpha Centauri is not so good as in GalCiv2 but the diplomatic AI is more active.

During war between the AI they usually talk to me "please come and rescue me" etc. etc.

And if I don't put alot into building a military they usually threaten me with pay us this ot give us this or you'll regret it. I only lose standing so I mostly refuse which makes it harder to keep the peace and trade with them.

And for me they have suggested we trade technologies, although very rarely.

Well on Beginner Level the AI is very passiv. Play tough (intelligent) to unlock the complete AI with all algorithms in place.
