Yor - Missing Economy starbase production modules?

Playing as the dark Yor in Beta 3D -

I've built an economy starbase and can't build any production modules on it, nor find an enabling tech anywhere in the tech tree. Just wondering if this is a potential bug, or if i'm missing something? (Or, If they're truly missing and it's intentional, i'd recommend some explanitory text somewhere, it's confusing! :)

thanks!

It's not only the Yor, I had the same when playing the Korath. I think it might be a good idea for the devs to move the technologies for upgrading starbases, or create different starbase modules for those races affected

"Dark Yor"? :P

The Dark Yor are an unplayable minor race, I think you just meant the Yor.

@starstriker: Yor vs. dark Yor, you must be right, i actually didn't know they were different ;) I was refering to the ordinary playable Yor.

It's a little frustrating at the moment, because we don't know yet how final these tech trees are. I found the same thing about econ starbase upgrades with the Iconians. They get a line of trade boost upgrades (when researched) for the zone of effect, but no production upgrades past the first one. I traded for the next level starbase production upgrade from the Terrans in my last game. It came with the first level of traditional factory tech, IIRC. But I'd have to trade/buy each successive one as an alien tech (they don't link to future upgrades), and it just wasn't worth it to go further. By that time, I was getting a handle on the unique Iconian factory buildings... refineries, etc, and didn't need any additional starbase econ boost to win the game.

So I still don't know if this lack of starbase upgrades is just half-finished, or intentional so we'll have to learn how to run each race differently, or pay through the nose to get additional tech from other races. Actually I like the challenge of using just the main racial techs. As long as I don't go above Tough level where the AI has econ bonuses, I haven't had any huge problems so far... well, except for the very slow Drath start.

It is kind of frustrating, as I've found my Yor and Iconian starbases to be a bit hamstrung - and that certain kinds of starbases are really suboptimal choices (influence for Yor, for example).

The resource mining upgrades are also missing. Yor can only get to 14% extraction, which is the default. Not being able to gain another 20% bonus on top of that like other races can, will cause the Yor to lag behind more late in the game.

Heh, what kind of influence starbases would war mongering death machines build? Borg cubes? Resistance is futile, you will be assimilated ... by our superior culture! ;)

I was trying to build up some influence along my shared border with the Terrans because their influence was spreading into my space, but that became fairly pointless as I couldn't put enough influence in the starbases. I guess the thing is, there should be something Yor can do with influence starbases, even if it's not cultural maximization.

And the other thing is that the mining starbases are completely gimped, with only two mining modules available. Economic is okay, but doesn't have enough +Military/Social production modules available. Military is great, and of course the self-defense modules are fine.

Anyway, that game ended with an alliance victory, with the Korx, Terrans, Drengin, and Yor exterminating the Korath.

This is a post CrazyC0330 a Stardock employee posted in my thread on lack of resource mining modules. 3-4 weeks ago.

Jesse (codeCritter) and I have actually been looking at this situation for the past couple of days and will eventually be implementing some adjustments where the team deems them necessary.

Because of all the adding/removing of techs within the race-specific tech trees there were quite a few affected starbase modules. Some of those were by design (ie. Arceans purposely cannot research Warp Drive techs and so therefore do not have access to starbase modules with speed assist), while the affects on some of the other modules may have been overlooked (ie. the advanced resource mining you mention). We do have an internal list of all the affected modules and will probably go down each one and make a decision on what to do.

Thanks for pointing it out though.
