Bah, can't they have these polls before you get completely entangled in Christmas preparations. Voted correctly Sir. Yes Sir! :-)

Lame, just because GalCiv and 4X games in general don't have a massive fan base like the Vista Launch title Supreme Commander or Zombifyingly gay WOW means it has less of a chance.. That's just stupid. I threw my modest wieght in with StarDock anyway

Well, looks like galciv needs to pay the price for being not so heavily marketed as all the others (and the RTS/TBS-genres bein less popular than RPG atm) ah well, I've gave you my vote, not that it matters much.

Ps. the gamespy award, was not voted for, but rather rated by gamespy, right?
If so, I guess thats what makes the difference between galciv and the others. (people won't vote for a game they haven't played... or at least the vast majority, in that aspect, quite funny WoW feems to end up 2nd tho)

Also Gamespot doesn't have a lot of credibility these days due to the Gerstmann debacle

very true....i still put in my vote for stardock....even though we are getting raped in polls, being on that list is saying enough in my opinion...and no one can compete with WoW: Burning Crusade...over 60 Mil playing ive heard...they shouldnt have even put WoW on that list, it gives no chance to rest of games

There are some funny guys that manipulate the poll. They say that they are "correcting" the poll :D.

They vote for supreme commander / forged alliance, using a "macro" that votes every 6 seconds.
even the poll of the best strategy game is faked:

Maybe both, supreme commander and WiC are faked.

great :D

ha ha Gamespot! They dont have a very good fanbase for non-FPS games cause of there terrible Ratchet and Clank Future review

I see the 4X games are trailing. :( I mean, don't get me wrong - I've played a lot of WoW and Oblivion both, and Supreme Commander is on my list to try at some point, but who doesn't want to rule the world? Or the galaxy?

Forged Alliance currently leading? Hello? Yes, I bought it, but I'm still wondering WHY exactly. It doesn't do much except adding a new faction. That might be a good thing, but since there are only three or four unique units to each faction (everything has to be balanced 'just so' for MP issues), it's not very impressive at all.

Civ4 BtS, yes, that's about the only real competition for Dark Avatar...

On the 'best strategy game' award: How in the nine hells can a console game even be considered??

This is a "best expansion pack" award, really, and Shivering Isles is a fairly good expansion pack. It's also for PC. :)

Didn't try any of the expansion packs, since I was a bit disappointed in the early pay-downloads. Oblivion itself was pretty good, though. If you liked it, I even had a blog going on about it: daysofoblivion.blogspot.com

GiantMelon posted a link to the gamespot 'strategy game of the year' voting, that was what my last comment was about. ;)

Oh, okay.

That's what sleep deprivation will get me.

Oblivion's pay downloads did improve. The Knights of the Nine had some nice material - not quite expansion pack level, but.
