Gauntlet's Race Mod - Full Version Released (PICS)

A Full Version has been compiled and was made available by Drengin via 'The Galactic Core'

This version is a single download incorporating all three packs, thus you get all 100 pics and 25 ship sets and such in one easy download (roughly 50megs)

Well it took allot of effort but the third installment of the race mod is finished..

It requires that you first have the other two installments!

This one increases the race pictures to a total of 100 entries!!! (woot)

In addition there are now 25 custom major races, each with its own unique ship set that will use ship parts semi-intelligently, IE they wont resize them stupidly (i hope)

In addition the Minor Races went from a total of roughly 20 something to 35 different ones. This is sadly shy of my goal of 50.

The biggest addon here is the extra 35 Race Images and the new major races... I've been preoccupied with Sins of a Solar Empire beta testing... but I will be making a twilight of the arnor version of this mod. With any luck I will find a host site of sorts for the mod so you won't have to download in installments.

First up, the Margog Pirates; a radical bunch of misfits who also enjoy fishing!























The Galactic Confederacy, Seriously the mega carrier is one of my best pieces... ever.


























The Nesktil Colonies are spiders that inhabit the massive vertical fissures of their world, the crawling climbing vegetation has led to a very vertical ecosystem.

















The Terran Sovereignty is of course my own personal empire... humanity with an iron fist and a healthy does of clever!



























The Quooloo are super curious jelly fish... with a weakness for mathematics.



















The Lulisla are a prolific peaceful race of plants...who of course have spore ships.

















The Inteli are brains in robot jars... could you tell? Each ship has a 'pilot' section for its size... you'll see... Fighters get one, Corvettes 2 and so forth.























The Hiveler Conglomerate is one of my favorite ship design sets, and definately took a lot of effort. They are squid like in design, but with much more emphasis on shells.



















The Virgonian Empire is comprised of a race of very noble and open minded insectoids, embracing many cultures and ensuring that they mesh perfectly into their society... in the end everyone contributes to the empire... even if they don't realize it.




















The Bornakka are a new people with old ideas... conquer, live, create!



















The Daleks are the ultimate threat in the universe... and so cute.

Darn, if only my current GCard could display the textures on ANY ships... i'd pick up this terrific MOD soon after purchasing a better one! Which may actually happen sometimes in February all the while putting the TA amount aside - of course.
;)
Btw, ya know that nice woman with a sort of Peacock/like hair-dressing... well, she fitted right in to replace the Carinoids' default in my own setup. With a few more minors from that pack. Did i just say Thank you?!

Your Welcome!

Does anyone like/use the race robot images? Personally I love it- try playing one of my custom races and you will notice they get their news from their own pic instead of the robot.

Hey Gauntlet.
For some Reason, This website takes about 15 minutes just to load a single page.
It happens to me with no other site.
It seems that there are problems with this server, on both of my computers.
As a result I can't get even a 2kb/s download speed for any mod in the library.

So I wanted to ask if you could possibly look into setting up a mirror for all 3 parts with the guys at I-mod or the galactic Core?

My connection problems with this site are so bad that I only ever look in once every few weeks now.

Does anyone else have the same problems as me?

I had the same problem about a week back- I am thinking of going to a third party; mainly because SD does not provide support for a mod that is over 20 MB

also their is a big type in the read me for the mod- am fixing today

For the time being I need no improvements, the Gauntlet's Race Mod avoids game-play changes as much as possible, aside from race customization- as for logo-s well if you have any you want me to include I'm all ears but I don't need anything specific... more importantly I haven't played GalCiv in almost a full year now... too busy doing this!

So I really don't plan on doing any work on this mod other than advertising (more images lol) and file organization, new content will have to wait until Twilight of the Arnor, which will also require a whole big re-write of this mod I'm sure!

well since you doint need anything but logo's ill make you a custom pack oh and another thing can I use any of your ship designs for my up in coming dune total conversion It would be a big help.

foxthree- it really depends on what designs you have in mind- and as long as you note who the designs are by or more importantly that they come from the Race Mod.

the only ones that I would consider saying no to are the Daleks and the Terran Sovereignty... most others I would have no objections.

Unspeakable.Elvis- Yeah they are a good one! I went nuts with spines claws and rings with them...

I really hope that these are all compatible with Twilight of the Arnor, I can't imagine re-making all these designs!

I put them in the Twilight folder, started up a game, and choose one of the ship styles from your mod for each of my opponents. They showed up fine. :)

Thanks to everyone who offered hosting! Currently the mod will be hosted by Drengin's site The Galactic Core.

This is the stand alone download, thus no need to download additional packs, it gives you everything in one go, though it is 50 megs :LOL:

Just plug in the link and save as when prompted.

Which reminds me... i've got to "continue" making CoSH/rated-R version since;
#1_Drengin at GCM has made (or will - when) some high/bandwidth/along/personal_folder available for it &...
#2_SD denied it as it was back in early December (although i may find the time to create another rated-G for approval also to upload here - when!).

Still spending most energy towards X-Worlds "final" basics though.
If i only had more spare time, i'd certainly develop faster. Bof. Both will be ready when they truly are, only. ;)

It's a must have install.
I pretty much mix it in with any non-total conversion mod.
I basically don't play Galciv without it, and am always glad to see news updates to the work. :D
