Precursor Ships

I just posted in the TA Suggestions section about precursor ships. I'd really like to see them get unique models and a slight increase in strength...especially the corvettes. Is this something other folks would like to see too, or is it just me? I'm curious...

I wouldn't mind seeing more variaty, especially since I tend to go with the 'Luck' ability. I'm getting tired of seeing the same old Rangers and Corvettes.

I must have played a hundred games of all flavours of GC2 and I think I've seen a Ranger once.

I just got my fourth one in the same game. This is unusual for me, though.

I've had games where I just can't stop finding the bloody things. It's pretty fun!

I think it happens mostly when you are losing a war.

I once had five precursor ships in the same game.

Every last one of them popped as soon as the Pirates Mega-event turned up, naturally.

The Ranger ship is coded into the ShipCFG file - there is one for every race S0_Ranger, S1_Ranger, etc. S0_Corvette, S1_Corvette etc. for each race... A simple mod can change this, but at this time its basically hard coded that it shares one file, so the hull will always be the same...

Maybe the Devs can make it so there is a S0_Ranger1, S0_Ranger2, S0_Ranger3, etc and it would randomly select one of the ShipCfg that have *_Ranger*.shipcfg in it.

I've never had the Pirates event either, or the Peacekeepers. Jagged Knife a bunch of times, Plague once, that's about it. Although I did get the "increased economic activity" thing and it lasted the whole game, with the 5x tourism event right after that. That was good for cash flow. I was putting about 10K into espionage every turn; I eventually stopped because I had agents on every tile of every planet the other races had left :D
