MINOR RACES!

So, just how many minor races can you have in a game? Please? Anyone? I thought you could have a total of 84 (100 - 12 Majors - 1 Custom - 1 Dreadlords - 1 Pirate - 1 for all {S99}) I figured since the numbers started reading at S0 and carried through to S99 that it would allow for up to 100 races total Minor/Major/Pirates - Is this not true? I know it seems to be obsurd, 84 minor races, I don't really want that many, but I would like a lot even though the max per game is 8, it adds variety (given you tweak them enough to make them more worth wild)


So, how many Minor Races can you have that will actually be used in the RaceConfig file? If wanted, could you really have nearly 84 minor races?

Sorry, not in a game - thats 8...but how many can you have in the raceconfig file that the AI will be able to use?

Uhmmm no idea... my mod gets it up to 35 now (should be released once approved.)

I hope it is a near "unlimited" value since that much variety can enhance gameplay in great leeways! Weak & Strong can be fun to watch when truly unknown from the start.

X-Worlds even has a GOD race (yup, THE god!) -- as you can imagine, that one will certainly get a lot (if not all!) of high numbers in most key-abilities. If the Carinoids (...etc) can run away with a 100% bonus economy, what should GOD get? 500% or less?? Would GOD use weapons, do some research, have some basic HitPoints? See, it's endless.

Just starting modding for CoSH had me going for about 50+ temporary pool of various thematic Minors - when i HAD to stop from exhaustion. After all, GodZilla IS invincible. ;)

The maximum of total players that can be in the galaxy at once including major races and the human player is 36.

Haaaaaa.... key info if there is ever one.

The human player (1) + A maximum of 9 Major opponents pulled off a strict list of 12 in total (9) + another maximum of 8 Minor races (8).
Lemme get the pocket calculator; i do have a final complex result of only 18 (with the remaining three Majors stuck in the twilight of absence).

So it means, i can still find some room on the raceconfig.xml for an extra 18 (Potentially recorded and pre-defined with their own IDs like #27 and up). Right?

26 is Pirates (Don't alter), 23 DreadLords (Don't touch), 20 Snathis ( & other customizables), 12 Custom (by choice) -- and so on.

Jagged Knife, miscellaneous events are pulled from THAT ball-park figure of 36, Correct?
What about the "Offshoots", anything that matters to the maximum limit within gameplay?

Thanks Cari, follow up question if you will....

Max total of players in the galaxy is 36....does that mean that the raceconfig file will ignore any RaceId after 35? (starting at 0 - 35) or does that mean there is potential to get 36 races actually in one game, but the RaceConfig may contain 40 and it will randomly select the minors that make it in??

Ive made over 35 minor races, add in the majors and you get the idea?

Yes it will randomly choose from a virtually ever grow pool of minors.

Just wanted to make sure I understood it correctly, currently the mod we have has over 60 races and want to make sure it will read them all :-)

i know they are all in there, just wanted to make sure the programming would randomly choose from all of them, and not just the top 36 races....

my second thought now is how do you get it to put in 36 races all at once into a game....hmmm...
